Description:
This is the song I mentioned when I posted my last song 'Lost Loves Lament'. I'd begun this song and it turned into the other in some strange way. Well this one is basically the same chord structure and it didn't make it easy, so by the time it was finished I was really getting the blues LOL. At the point it's now at, I gave up in desperation and unable to add anything else, so I hope it comes up to the mark.... though it's a very slow blues.... almost a 'torch song' I guess.
Lyrics:
The Hardest ThingSometimes I feel that life is passing me by,
Sometimes I ask myself if I’ve lived a lie,
Why did I think that loving you was so right
When all you brought were sleepless nights?
You had me fooled; had me pacing the floor,
Thinkin’ each moment, you might walk through the door.
Moments were like hours and hours turned to nights,
While you danced away the night, sharing your delights.
Whoah!Blues came and got me when you never came home,
I wasted hours, just sat by the phone,
The hardest thing that I had to do, was have to say goodbye to you,
And all the time I loved you, but you never knew,
That all you ever wanted was at home and feeling blue
Yes, All you ever wanted, was at home and loving you.
(Instrument)
Who-o-o-oa!You were just foolin’ but I was the fool
You thought it was funny just treating me cruel….
(Instrument)
It turned out, I was that fool.
Wo-oah! Blues come and get you if you leave it too late,
And it seems I found out just in time,
But the hardest thing that I had to do, was have to say goodbye to you…
All the time all the time I loved you, but you never knew,
That all you ever wanted was at home and feeling blue
Yes, All you ever wanted, was at home all the time and loving you.
Loving you.

What a great torch song indeed! In a strange way it reminds me of a David Bowie song "Wild Is The Wind' and that ain't a bad thing! I think it's the keyboard melody running through. (Check it out - you'll like!)
It's a difficult thing to pull off a slow number like this and keep it interesting, but I was right there 'til the end. Which by the way, is a masterwork in how to pour a large shot of the blues (one for the road directly after the break). Strongest Moviz song in a long time.
Hope all is well - another DL & straight to iPod for me!
Cheers, Mo,
Jim
Moviz
you've made my day with those comments; I really got lost with this one and nearly binned it at one point.I'l try to give the Bowie one a listen as i haven't heard it. It's certainly easy listening LOL so it'll send you to sleep without the 'one for the road', regards M

Excellent song, with a difficult performance. Doing those slow songs can be a great challenge, and you met it with with great adeptness. Also the lyrics capture what I think most people have experienced at one time or another. Its one of Gods great jokes that we can have such strong feelings for a person and they can be indifferent to us, or worse yet, they derive pleasure from toying with our emotions. This song captures that joke perfectly. Ultimately we learn that we are playing the joke on ourselves....Exceptional job,,,, Peace, Norman
Moviz
wrong Norman, most people have to go through the mill and I'm certainly one of them LOL. Thanks so much for your nice comment, much appreciated, cheers M
mowguy3
I am a sucker for this kind of stuff. Don't know what you were going for but, the end result is fantastic. A favorite for sure.
Thank You
Moviz
for those positive comments... you really cheered me up saying those things; but at times I can tell you, I didn't know myself what I was going for, as I seemed to be stuck in a rut for ages LOL, regards M.
lengold
gorgeous. A wonderful song performed beautifully. Love the lyrics, real blues. Downloaded. Thanks.
Cheers
Len
Moviz
you think so Len. I'd wondered if it was a bit 'empty' sounding, but nothing else seemed to fit in.... but if your pleased with it, I'm thrilled, thanks Len, regards M
lengold
as it is. Lacking nothing.

Moviz

Mo, you knew I'd love this, its romantic despair in its finest form, I would love to see the video to this I can picture a dark haired beauty with a rose in her mouth...Great sounds all arounds
Moviz
I guessed it would appeal to your softer side and I love that heading about 'bleeding red velvet'... it's got to be included in a future song... now where's my notebook? Nice phantasy too with the rose and dark hair, which departs from how it really was.... with her red hair and a fag end in her gob LOL ( just joking). Seriously she had auburn hair and a cold disposition, but was quite a 'looker'. Thanks Tom for the nice remarks.... glad you listened, regards M

Big time blues for sure.
Love the message and the song Maurice. I think it's safe to say most of us have been there at one time or another, so we can all relate to this song.
Love the organ sound and the way you did the drums. I'd have like to have had the guitar up a little in the mix, and the organ pulled back a bit to give them a little better balance, but that just a personal taste thing.
Great song Maurice, keep em coming my friend. Thanks for sharing this one.
Ed
Moviz
yes, deep deep blues and glad you liked them. The drums, I did in three separate tracks on midi and then dragged them into one track. The guitar just wasn't a good enough sound (with my playing) compared to the organ, so I kept it low enough to add fullness to the overall sound. Thanks for calling in to comment and fave, much appreciated, regards M
Heightened
along on this one. No easy task I tell you! Very cool.
Moviz
love to hear you singing H, adding another string to your bow, thanks for your nice comment, cheers M

I like the songwriting and the delivery. Great vocals and an amazing organ - what a vibe :-) Wonderful track full of atmosphere, thanks for sharing!!
Moviz
liked this Andreas and that you liked the organ as I'm no keyboard player in truth. I played it in two parts, first the solo part and then the chords as my hands are not synchronised as are a real pianist/organist would be. Hence it pleases me that with your musical abilities you think it's OK, cheers M
lovely mellow song . loved it. You sing really nice. Awwe And from your broken heart.
Thank you
Peace Dee. x
Moviz
Thank you so much for listening to my song, which came from the bottom of my broken heart LOL. So pleased that you enjoyed it and that you like my vocal, cheers M
drakonis
Maurice, love the tune, music, and your singing and lyrics are great.
The only thing I had trouble with was the shift from minor to major partway in... for some reason it took my brain a long time to switch back to major... it sounded like you wanted to stay in minor mode. I know I did :-) Anyway, I liked the slow pacing, and the loose drums.
ttfn,
Drakonis
Moviz
the favourable comment, you're right it does fluctuate between minor and major, as I tried to keep to the same chord structure as my previous, which was in a different vein altogether... tho' the sadness remains LOL. Thank you for listening, and glad you liked it, regards M
screamalexz
a rather soft track. peaceful vocals with a pleasant tone. when you go lower it gets quite a bit of bluesy feel to the vocal which is cool.
Moviz
glad you took time out to listen to this and I thank you for your nice comment, cheers M
Very bluesy. You absolutely nailed that organ sound friend. Well-written and well sung. The progression sounds almost like it's from out of the 40's...truly classic. reminds me a little of Richard Thompson's "Al Bowly's In Heaven." BRAVO!
Be well friend!
Moviz
I'll have to look him up to give a listen, thanks for listening to this and for the comment, cheers M
paul f. page
...channeling Cab Calloway. Somehow I can just hear the early 30's in this sleezy little song that just slips and slithers along. That organ in the accompaniment is the perfect background. You've got this style NAILED!!! vocally and instrumentally. A very pleasant listen, indeed.
Peace.
Paul
Moviz
Glad that you liked the organ with your qualifications, though it will never be as intricate as your playing LOL. Thank you for the Cab Calloway reference too, regards M
Diviner
I like the effect of it sounding like an old recording. Cool, blues track. Very bluesy lyrics and well put together. Esp like the organ.
Moviz
For taking the time to comment, pleased that you liked it. I'm glad you liked the organ too with it's sleazy sound, cheers M
michael2
i really like this. it should be in a David Lynch movie. the drums and that organ are just perfect. you have done a really great job with this.
Moviz
I can see what you mean with the David Lynch thing ( I think it's the organ sound), but I'm very flattered. Glad you liked this, thanks for listening, cheers M

I loved it. These are blues, very good blues. I hear this, and I don't miss being happy. I wanna feel blue! Gimme more. Loved it, dude! Terry
Moviz
So pleased you called in to hear this. You've got to keep happy being blue LOL.... Does that make sense? Thanks a lot for your positive remarks my friend and I really do love that you loved it, cheers M

...the keyboards...adds a nice soft touch...sweet sadness.
Moviz
for the listen and your comment Bob.... appreciated, cheers M
timothy devine
I love your voice. By the time the organ solo came i was anticipating it so much that i nearly pushed the tune forward. Great solo. So sweet n bleu. What a nice set of chords. Great great sound. Cool tune.
I have really come to dig your vox my friend.
You are very talented.
Moviz
only be pleased with those flattering remarks Timothy... I'm really pleased that you listened. The feelings are reciprocated fully, but we don't hear your voice enough, regards M
This is a true great sad song. The melody in the background is fantastic and the singing is very nice and smooth. The quality is excellent!

reminds me of the black blues from the 60's where some of the gospel sounds of the time were being incorporated into the music. thanks for posting this one.

The organ sounds are great here, and the drums sound excellent. It has the feel of a live gig in a dark club, red lighting and a single spotlight...The lyrics are poignant and evocative, and your voice sounds great here. Hope those blues disappear! Maybe time for a happy song! Nicely done, my friend. Peace.
Moviz
it's time for a brighter song after me wallowing in the past for a while. Glad you called in though and gave it a listen and I thank you for your very welcome comments, regards M

Really nice sound to this one, I like that moody organ...almost sounds like something The Tindersticks might come up with. Good heartfelt vocals too
nice
Steve
Moviz
know of 'The Tindersticks' until you mentioned them. I just listened on You-Tube and they sound great, so thanks for the association. The Guy has a very similar type of voice to yourself, rich and warm. Thanks for the listen to my song Steve, glad you liked it, cheers M
Go_Turtle_Go
Thanks for pointing this one out, I had an overload of new music to digest. It reminds me of sitting in a bar with friends talking about a women or an unreachable woman just across the table. So, I think you nailed this blue nail on the head. I hadn't read the lyrics, but it still oozed out the good ol' blues! very cool organ playing.
Moviz
you might like this one M, thanks for the listen, the organ was played in two takes on two tracks though, cheers M
racerat
Moviz,
I admire your vocal vibrato so much. Nice stuff. You captured almost a Billie Holliday tone on this one. Nice classic lyrics. The drums seem a little out of synch in parts, but that just adds to the loose midnight feel of the track, but nothing a little quantizing couldn't help. Thanks.
Moviz
glad you called in... and thanks for your nice comment...... the drums? Yes I know there could be improvement there; it was so hard to find a loop beat for this hence the midi, cheers M
duhdewd
I can smell the smoke in the air of the club as I enjoy my gin and tonic. Great keys and vocals!
Peace and Love,

Glad you called in and listened to this. Thank you for taking the time and leaving the kind note, regards M

back and finally am getting back for the comment. I apologize... sometimes when things are busy I just can't get my fingers to enter that comment. But wow is this a cool sound!
Moviz
for apologies Mark.... there's just not enough hours in the day sometimes LOL....... I'm so glad I found out how to get that sound on the organ on this number, as it really does help the sound along, regards M
