Description:
my friend and brother Steve Collins brought this arrangement to church the other night and I thought it was quite good.
I want to dedicate this one to Feter and Yeman who are wayfarin strangers in the truest sense, my heart and prayers go out to you guys. may you find rest soon!
I'm going to try to put the bass and drums on the workbench for anybody who wants to goof off with this.

I like the guitar treatment a lot. It gives the instrument a nice "voice". Tell us more about how this was recorded. I also like the "room" on the drums. Sets a nice sound stage when listening on "cans".
I felt there were a few rhythm problems but not enough to detract from the overall level of production on the tune and the heartfelt, but not overstated, vocal performance. [ Reply to This ]

was a cheap kit strat on the #2 position (B/M p.u.) with LE7 blues solo 2 channel strip, the lead was the same guitar in the neck p.u. with a lower gain. drums are EZdrummer with some added reverb. I usually use hardly any so this sounds like Julio Iglesias to me, somehow it was just right. Slap back delay on the vocals. No compression on the mix down.

What I like about the mix overall is that it sounds real. Like it is a group of guys playing in the garage with a couple of pretty good mics picking up the sound and the sound of the room as well. It may not be the most polished mix and sound in the world but it does have a realism that many lesser played and conceived pieces don't have.
When something is a diamond, it doesn't need a lot of polish ... when it is a turd, no amount of polishing will make it shine. [ Reply to This ]

Paul I really enjoyed this.This has a real gutsy grit like Santana meets David Gilmore vibe.You're right about the bass/drum groove,really tight.Hope you leave your guitar in as well...smoookin.With music like this in your church, me thinks you know who, won't show his horns or tail there.For Feter,I don't think you realise how many of us wish the best for you.
