Description:
My first timid dip in complex meter. Also my first faltering foray into working with random tone generation. Both aspects of this experiment were inspired by gregd's much better investigations (http://www.macjams.com/artist/gregd).

That vocal sample is creepy-cool.
I like the way you kept the tones so happy sounding in the first half and then went into Mario's dungeon level in the second half. The whole piece sounds like something off the second disc of Aphex Twin's Druqks album.
The ending was unsettling: the phrasing just falls apart and goes random. Which isn't a bad thing, since you held the rest of the piece together with your phrasing, I think.
Nice work.

thanks for more excelent feedback &mdash 05/13/08 - 11:55:12 AM
Vocal sample from Blind Willie Johnson's, "dark was the night, cold the ground". Unfortunately, my understanding of melodic structure and theory is rudimentary and hobbled together, so I'm having trouble understanding what you're saying about the end bit. I get that it has a sense of sort of falling apart, but as for your more specific remark, it'll take me a bit to work out its sense. Thanks! [ Reply to This ]
