Description:
I originally wrote this for the CBGB challenge, but I decided on something darker. So you guys get to hear this now. It's kind of a cross between The Ramones and The New York Dolls. They were both huge influences when I was a kid, I played in a million bands like this since like age 15. I had so much fun doing these songs, i may start another page of this kind of music exclusively. Probably took me about an hour to do this, including the writing. It's easy when you're all stripped down and working from cliches.

Production values were ragged as hell back then, so I recorded this as fast as humanly possible. First take on everything, all the meters in the red; suitably juvenile teen angst lyrics. 140 bpm of pure punk pop bliss.

raw and punk pop. a big NY Dolls connection especially in the music and guitars. the lyrics has the ramones thing. crazy, and stands tall in those 8" platform shoes!

kind of does sound like that. i went with Debby cuz it's such a 60's sounding name and the Ramones would have used it. Started out as Sandy, but I work with a girl named Sandy so I changed it at the last minute. I just like the name. thanks for listening.

like i said 1st take for everything. the songs 2 minutes long and hardly any instruments, so it kind of flew by, and there's only 3 drum loops in it (that were already in my favorites). so glad you like.

David's daughter used to be in school with Stella - and last year at a fund raiser talent show in the auditorium the Dolls came out and tore the house down on practice amps and a crappy PA. everything was fast and I left in every mistake, so it took about a half an hour to track (did it while waiting for a conference call to start), and about a half an hour to pick the drum loops. the chords are in a 1000 songs already so I just faked a melody and some simple lyrics over the top. thanks for listening, I can't wait to hear everyones CBGB entries.

good work. love the sloppy drums and the whistle before the solo. you've done well capturing the genre for sure. there's a certain type of art we call 'goodbad' at work. Really sloppy lazy drawings but in a good way. When you look at them you can tell they're done buy a great artist. Well I would call this song 'goodbad' as well. That's a compliment by the way lol.

Anyway, I definitely like this a lot, but I'm really looking forward to hearing the 'darker' one from you for the challenge.

Has a lot going for it, great vocals, driving rhythm, and the guitars pushing it along. Reminds me of some of the 60's songs, but it's also heavier.

my roommate turned me on to the Dolls and Ramones circa 1985, and I had the chance to hang around CBGBs in "the day" right when I turned 21. This brings tons of good memories back.

You hit the nail on the head when you say the Dolls make the Stones look like posers. Though you made nods to Buddy with the chords and melody, one of the hardest things to do is put together a 3 chord song that really stands out. You've done that here. Great tune!
