Description:
this is my first venture into working with logic pro- as well as the first project i've posted here under time restrains. faced with a week to pull a song out of my ass, i reached deep into my colon and pulled out some files that have been impacted since about 2005- when i was first getting my feet wet with garageband.
audiologic wrote this song, which i became oddly emotional involved in.

this track is a departure in terms of style for me, and i've come to terms with that- but wanted to post it in a demonstration of range and future possibilities.

Hardware:
various midi controllers

Software:
logic pro 8

stylish departure &mdash 04/26/08 - 02:09:00 AM
funny you mention this being a departure in style for you because i was thinking the same thing before i read it. it sounds different for sure, but it's certainly well done.

this makes me want to know what will happen when you import your style into logic pro 8.

what about when i get the chance to hack at that last file you sent me, dilly, huh? lol

i will always be on the search for midi files from here on out- send me some, indiscriminately, as i must start building my portfolio soon!

nicely done &mdash 04/26/08 - 04:12:30 PM
the track sounds great, i only wish that the ending would have been a little more dramatic or something (and the concrete dildo seems a little bit disturbing!)
cheers!

yes i totally ran out of time to make the ending any more than it is- an abrupt entropy. but in a way, i'm cool with that- it was enough for me to have so many chords and not very many weird noises.

going somewhere &mdash 04/28/08 - 04:10:35 PM
It's good to step outside of your comfort zone now and then ... simply because it may lead to something unusual or different.

Or not : >

Anyhow - this seems to be going somewhere ... and that's a good thing.

a sunny tune &mdash 04/29/08 - 10:57:19 AM
a good tune too, it is a cool program, no? Only suggestion is (since you are using a pro tool...;-)) to add to the tension of the melody. One way to do that is to scale it (half an) octave up or down, and do that with the bass-layer too. It gives it that extra climactic and sunny feel. Still EA, a very sunny piece of music. Mixmeister you

thanks for the suggestion turtle! as i hadn't much time to work, i just kind of threw the arrangement together, and your suggestion is definitely something worth looking into- a peer of mine said something similar, but i didn't follow through because i would have then had to re-examine the entire structure. or, at least, i would have wanted to. thank you for taking a moment to listen and comment!

it is easy &mdash 04/30/08 - 02:15:32 AM
just select the region where you or the listener expects a change in melody, and select the function/algorithm that does it. With cubase 3 sx I found it in the general tools menu.

yeah- i got the 'how' down. but i always get a little philosophical about the 'why', and 'where'. lol

welcome to Logic &mdash 05/13/08 - 09:58:54 AM
I found my first forays into Logic were awful and painful, but now it's my favorite concrete dildo. Er... you know what I mean, right?

Nice sequencing and tonal flow in the tune. Your sound will grow immensely as you get more acquainted with Logic.
