Description:
My first, and I hope not the last, collaboration with Five Extra Arms. Bob was kind enough to add the weird electronic sounds on this and to touch up the production a bit. Thanks Bob.
I don't know where this falls under regarding genre. I'm just known in the Alternative Rock genre more.
* The Pic: This is a scene from the first known psychiatric hospital in Europe, Bethlem Royal Hospital (Bedlem), founded in London in 1247.
Could you imagine the treatment there in 13th century?
I thought this picture would fit the song well.
Enjoy!

Lyrics:
Off the TopDay and night. Night and day
I see things, Shadows on the wall.
Look like wings, flying down the hall.
Can’t wait for daybreak.
Ceiling spins, I take another look.
I can’t hold back, reaching for the book.
Open page. Letters dance around.
Day light breaks, comes the morning sounds
Can’t wait for daybreak.
*(The words sort of go like this. Mostly improved)

Hey Dave,
When you sent this file to me, I knew it was the soundtrack for a mental institution. What I don't understand is why you sent it to me??
Your guitar parts throughout this song still blow me away. They are distant and subtle and make me feel sedated and strapped to my bed. The dark and creepy bassline was Bauhaus spooky and another perfect element for this PscychoHop Dance tune.
The vocals were a real treat for my extra ears, as they are about the most unique I've heard from you.
Well, the doctors have hooked the electrodes to my head, so I've gotta go now. You're a cool cellmate!
lavalamp
In answer to your question- I just wanted to work with a legend.

I thought you already worked with Vic Holman?
Oh well, keep trying pal, and thanks for working with me while Vic's answering fan mail.
Bobby
Very nice job. PscychoHop fits this tune (as Bob said)... Very well done. The music sound is very good! Enjoyed!

this is kinda psychotic .... definately bauhaus in the bass 9and parts of the vox). Really nice mix - great stereo seperation in the drums and per.... more dark than shark, grim work guys!
lavalamp
This has to be another GRIMM'S tale. Thanks for checking this out.

The song certainly captures some of the vibe in a mental health institution no matter what the era.I work in just such a place and there are times when this soundbed would fit perfectly with many a 'situation'.Thank God for modern medecine!
I hope to do my own take on this very subject one day,but that is all dependent on my doctor's current reccomendations,my behavior issues and those much needed med ajustments.Fine work fellas!

and most definitely sounds like a classic Bauhaus number - weird and wonderful. Love your bass sound. The picture fits the song perfectly.

incredibly cool and psychotic. such great madness. such pretty shadows. i just want to draw circles on the walls. i like the light when my straight jacket is too tight. all my friends are here. but they hide behind my back. i love my padded little shack.
I'm honored that you wrote this song about me! Thanks guys and be sure to write. Sorry in advance if my reply's are written in lipstick.
lavalamp
The original title was "Vic's pretty shadows written in lipstick", but I thought the title was too long.

Although can't make out all the vocals. I like that flangy bass sound - and the quirkyness of it all!
lavalamp
The vocal could have been up a bit more, but I didn't want the vocal to be the focal point. I see what you're saying though.
Thanks for the comments and advice. Much appreciated.

some really special and unusual sounds happening that you two have conjured up between you.
Excellent rhythms and some backwards? stuff going on. All in all a great and unique listen.
Cheers

and a terrific sound overall. The bass is impressively dark and the drums are great - excellent sounds. Love the vocals, and those guitars are rip roaring good. A great collab. Nicely done to both of you. Kudos. Peace.
lavalamp
Any acknowledgment about my bass work is much appreciated. Thanks for your supportive comments.

I would like to hear the voices louder (or more upfront) to be heard better. I think there is little danger of the vocals overwhelming this wild and wacky soundtrack : >
Perhaps, even, it would be appropriate to add some screams or wails or insane laughter or wolf-howling as the song progresses on its chaotic journey - weaving in and out of the bedlam.
But perhaps listening to this inventive posting has resulted in a case of Overstimulated Brain Syndrome ... and I'm starting ... to ... freakout ....
lavalamp
Tha vocals could have been up a bit, I must admit. Thank you for lending me your ears. I always appreciate those types of comments. And glad you liked it. too.
LL
How cool is this?!? Deliciously weird to be sure. It's like you tried to do an industrial cover of George Harrison's "Let It Roll," and recorded it in an haunted house!
Awesome stuff you two.
Be well!
lavalamp
That was quite an interesting comment concernig G: Harrison. Really interesting.
Thanks friend and stay cool,

Man this is dark. I love it. Really tight production,Spooky reverb deftly and judiciously handled. This is gonna give me nightmares. FiveExtraArms is a crazy man. Great collab.
lavalamp
Too bad I hadn't seen you around lately. I loved your last collab. Glad you found this to be cool.
Later,
