Description:
After I listened to the original version, I realized that I needed to go back and do a better mix of this song. So here you have it, the remix of Another Place to Be. I think it's a lot better now for the changes I've made in the mix and production, but you can be the judge of whether it's really better, or just different.

Hope it strikes your fancy, but if not tell me why so I can go in and try again and again, and again to get it right. That's the way you get to play on Broadway man, practice, practice, practice.

Thanks Again.

Ed

Thanks you Feter &mdash 04/26/08 - 06:45:43 PM
I guess all that really matters is that you enjoyed this mix at least as much as the earlier one. When I listened to it after I posted the last one, I was not a happy camper. I could hear all kinds of things that could stand improvement.

Now as to whether I actually improved the song with the remix, only time and all of you out there will tell for sure.

Be well my friend and thank's again for the kind words.

Hey Slw &mdash 04/26/08 - 11:40:51 PM
I can't keep up with all the new music. First the Woodstock thing put me behind and U my man, you are very busy posting. God bless!
Just when I thought i had you pegged for a round hole you come up with a square peg.
This is a real cool jam.
I love the mood you created.
Then the string hits.
Way cool. This is just so way cool.
I didnt listen to the old mix but this is sublime.
just GREAT GREAT sounds and playing.

Oh yeah Tim, thanks for the kind words &mdash 04/27/08 - 12:04:39 AM
I can't keep up with all the new music either. First the Woodstock thing put me behind, and what with all that's been going on here it has been hard to keep up with all the great new stuff being posted, that's for sure. I've been busy tonight trying to get around to listening to some of it myself, and I don't thing I'll ever get caught up.

Anyway, about that round hole, square peg thing. I wasn't always a country guy, I lived in the city most of my life and I took a real shine to the Blues, Rock, and to Jazz as a young man. Of course it's been nearly 40 years since I've done any of it so I'm not expecting much out of myself. Too much has been forgotten in the intervening year.

But it is fun to go back and take a stab at it every now and again.

Thanks again for stopping in Tim, great to have you over for a listen. Happy you enjoyed the track man.

Be well

Ed

It was a fun exercise for me since I hadn't done any kind of Jazz in about 40 years. I'm really glad you dropped in for a visit and found something you liked in this piece my friend.

Thanks again for the kind words and cool comments about the guitar. That felt really good to hear.

Be well Vic and keep on putting out those great songs you do too.

I have not &mdash 04/27/08 - 09:13:43 PM
listened to the original version, but this is very nicely done. Great production - terrific sounds and the mix is spot on. I love the guitar sound you get here (and the playing is sweet!) That's great bass work as well. I have to say this was a surprise, not what I normally associate with your good self. I don't know why I let myself be surprised anymore by the range and talent of MacJammers! Very cool. Kudos. Peace.

Thanks David &mdash 04/27/08 - 09:42:34 PM
Actually this is mostly a clean up and smoothing out of the rough edges on the first one. I know better than to post something as soon as I "Finish" it, but I did it anyway. Most of the time I'll sit on it for a day or two and then go back to listen with fresh ears. That sometimes makes all the difference.

Thanks for the very kind words about the song David, I'm thrilled that you liked it and took the time to let me know. I wasn't sure where I was going with it, but I did want it to be soft and easy to listen to. All except where I woke everyone up towards the end and then smoothed it back out for the finale. I didn't want it to get to boring so I had a little throwback to a more Rock feel for about 8 bars, just to shake up the audience a little.

And you are completely right about the talent here on MacJams. In the short time I've been here, I've learned to never underestimate anyone. These folks are the real deal here I'll tell you.

Again I say thanks for coming over David. Be well

Ed

Not just different Ed... &mdash 04/28/08 - 02:35:45 PM
...new and improved. This was already a great track. But you've tweaked it in such a way that it now sounds totally pro. This will replace the last version as my favorite tune of yours.

Be well friend!

Man that's so nice to hear. I was hoping it would really be better than the original version, which to my ears sounded harsh when I went back and listened to it after posting. You comment confirms it for me.

Glad you stopped in for a listen Micheal and liked what you heard. Thanks again for the kind words my friend.

Be well

Wow, that is a sweet sound you've got there! Your guitar talks, and very expressively. Everything fits together beautifully.

The darn thing talks to me all the time too, but I'm a little deaf so I don't know what it's saying. lol

I'm really glad you liked the song my friend and took time to send along some kind words to that effect. The encouragement goes a long way toward keeping me working and is very much appreciated.

Thanks again Clark for dropping in for a listen. Be well my new friend.

Randy Bachman asked if....... &mdash 05/02/08 - 07:26:06 PM
anyone knew how to make a million dollars producing a Jazz album...the answer.... Spend 2 million lol. I think if the 2 of you got together, there would be no need to spend that kinda cash. Great song and composition fluid and edgy wrapped up in a guitar line that sucks you in and keeps you there till it leaves you wanting more. God I wish I could write and play like this.

Thanks guy &mdash 05/02/08 - 10:26:04 PM
Ya know, that sounds just like something I'd do, spend 2 mil to make 1, although I'm not sure I can count high enough to be able to tell when I get to 2 mil.

As I said in the song info, this has been a long time coming since I haven't done any Jazz at all for almost 40 years. But it was a real fun track to do. I tried miking the amp instead of going direct and the sound came out pretty good to my ears. Of course I'm about deaf so I it's sometime hard to tell how it's going to affect other people who can hear.

At any rate, I'm really glad you enjoyed this piece Guy, and I do very much appreciate you taking time to send along those very kind words. Thank you again for dropping in for a listen my friend.

Be well
