Description:
Meandering & fragmentary exercise in interactive listening. It is long.... I just couldn't bring myself to cut out any of it. I don't know if it will coalesce into a coherent tune for anybody else...

This is an incredible piece of work! &mdash 04/29/08 - 11:37:25 PM
A great balance between soothing melodies and interesting glitchness. The length didn't bother me at all. I could have listened to this for a lot longer, in fact. Reminds me of the Orb a little, but updated. Justbase put a bug in my ear to come check you out and I am glad I did.

I'm glad too. &mdash 05/07/08 - 07:38:48 PM
I really like the few things of yours I've heard so far. I've found your tunes very inspiring, so I feel honored and very encouraged when I hear that you like some of my stuff. I apologize for the delay in my response but I've been moving over this last week, and haven't had time or energy to do anything else.

The Orb indeed. &mdash 05/13/08 - 10:52:16 AM
The panning in the drums is really psychedlic, and that wheezing grandpa you have on tape loop is just plain funny. How did you cut up the drums, did you do that by hand? You've mixed up a producer's epic adventure, that's for sure.

The beginning of your accordion solo reminds me of the end of the Refused's "Shape of Punk to Come" album, then you go into the soundtrack to "Amelie" on acid. Lovely.

The groove you start up at 9', approximately, is really smooth and cool. It sounds like Medeski, Martin, and Wood's album, "The Dropper".

I really like the way you keep moving through this piece. To keep such minimal elements consistently engaging isn't easy.

Radiohead--that's what you're acoustic guitar reminds me of.

That was cool.

Thanks for the blow by blow &mdash 05/13/08 - 11:47:28 AM
That's wonderful, I really appreciate the minute comparisons and comments. None of the instrumentation is 'mine', however. The harmonica belongs to Toots Theilemans, the guitar to Love. I just cut it up and transposed it. The drums are programmed, of course, and so cutting them up was just a matter of arranging choice bits of the drum loops I'd programmed. Working with Live, I feel like an appendage of the program, rather than it being an instrument of mine.

You've dropped a lot of names which I look forward to picking up.

Thanks for listening and commenting so thoroughly, gregd.
