Very sweet and calming. I love this movement and put it into my itunes collection together with the first movement. As with the first part, your playing is very subtle. Good work, Paul!

Once again.... &mdash 04/29/08 - 09:07:03 PM
...writing a sonata that one can easily imagine putting lyrics to, and singing...

Almost lullaby-ish in feel, but could also be a love song...

Hymn like qualities &mdash 04/29/08 - 11:02:39 PM
Lovely composition - but would like to hear some subtle tension in all that sweetness- if you know what I mean. Your playing is excellent though!

What is it going to be? &mdash 04/30/08 - 11:01:35 AM
I am re-naming this download back to Sonata-2 so it sorts properly in my growing PFPage iTunes collection, critics or not :-)

This is a nice gentle respite from the first movement, and although you wandered dangerously into 20th-century jazzy progressions here, they were somehow quite at home in this flowing bit of relaxation.

It's funny that LunaTrick mentions that he wishes there was a little tension in here... I actually FELT tension BECAUSE it wasn't there... in other words, since this is a 3-part thing, the very fact that this is so relaxing makes me ANTICIPATE a very jubilant and expressively energetic 3rd movement. It just calls for that... so I am now on the edge of my seat in the concert hall, I've put on my seat belt, and I am anxiously awaiting the grand finale. You've completely set the stage... and as an organist, I'm sure you know what I mean when I say that "I'm expecting Paul to pull out all the stops now!" (smirk)

My oh my..... &mdash 04/30/08 - 01:27:22 PM
This is even more beautiful and soulful than the first movement.

There are happy-sad moments filled with longing and hope for something yet to come. All will be well in the end.

I await, with eager anticipation for, the next installment of your 'unspecified long piano number', but surely number is a figure, but we'll not go there, ha ha.

Take care my friend.

There's a guitar piece... &mdash 05/01/08 - 05:05:47 PM
...by Tarrega, called "Lagrimas", which this reminds me of. It's the pedal point, I think. Moving a bit away from the Romantic period, at this point, Paul...though the root of it's still there. And it's still a beauty....

Aside from the wonderful feeling and technique you display, Paul... you really write some terrific melodies. This is certainly another of them. ;)
