Description:
This track was done in the year 2000/2001, I cannot remember exactly as alot of those years are very hazy. My friend (Iain Bews) had a computer with cubase on it and so we made tracks together. His mother was a school teacher, and at the school she worked at they found some records that dated back to the 50/60's, mostly records to encourage kids to make music, there was even a couple of this old lady who made her own tiny box electric synthesizer and had recorded sounds that she had produced from these handmade synths. We sampled the records and put the samples together, so they flowed and put loads of effects over the samples. Hope you enjoy listening to this experiment as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

strong stuff &mdash 05/01/08 - 01:56:14 PM
I know this woman, she was one of the pioneers of electronic music. At least, if that is the one, can't remember her name. What I do know, and it comforted me personally, is that she had a lot of sexism going against her. A woman doing radical new stuff.... I love these explorations in tonalities and emotions. Good job you two!

I could imagine the sexism and jealousy that was against her, but she produced some amazing sounds esp for the time and she made the synths. Thanks Marc for listening and commenting, its really appreciated. It was really fun making this track.

It's a cloud of rubber mosquitoes, right? Ha ha...

Pretty trippy stuff man! Had me scurrying for my can of insect repellent!

Very cool array of sounds and textures. Good job on the narration...

Be well!

Always good to see you here. Yes, it is slightly different from what I do, thats because its a collab with a friend of mine done a while back, all those elements produced something completely differnt. They were fun times. Glad you enjoyed the track, and thanks again.

Vintage 50s? &mdash 05/03/08 - 02:17:52 PM
Judging by the range of the frequency spectrum in the first part of this track you've used quite some effects. I doubt that the original records were that hi-fi.

I love the little crackles from the old records. Makes me feel like I'm in an old sci-fi movie. Ok, that doesn't make sense, but it does.

LOL, too right &mdash 05/03/08 - 04:41:52 PM
We put loads of effects on the samples to give them all an edge, but not all the samples had effects however. Thanks for listening and comment Vic its really appreciated. Its funny how you can get plugins which do record clicks and scratches but we did not have to do that, also the crackles produced some amazing sounds with the effects on.

Cool sounds/samples &mdash 05/03/08 - 05:01:50 PM
Very interesting stuff Keith. I think this might make a good backing track for a techno or house track.

Interesting idea &mdash 05/06/08 - 01:25:51 PM
At the time we wanted to just see what we could do with those records, but yes it could be a backround to some techno track. Thanks for listening and commenting, pleased that you liked it. Good to see you.
