Description:
This is my offering for Feter's House of Blues challenge. It has three tracks, three takes, and Feter's tricky guitar bed. It took me a few tries to learn the timing variations in his phrasing---a fun variation in the way I usually write music. Thanks Feter.

Lyrics:
well I spend my time in a room with out a view
picking at my scabs and thinking of you
wondering if I could open that door
walk away from all this pain and you forevermore
but I'm feeling so heavy I can't get up off this chair
so I'll sit here wondering, losing all my hair.

I wake up every morning and wish I hadn't been
sitting in my skin, on the night we met
I should have been home sleeping or maybe late at work
but now I'm at home crying, because of how I hurt
I'm sorry that I met you, I'm sorry that cared,
cause now I ain't got nothing left for the world to share.

Good basic blues! I love that line: "Picking at my scabs and thinking of you."

Nice clean and tight blues riffing on that electric lead.

Good offering Greg!

Be well!

Glad you liked the tune. I had fun just singing and playing on this one---no smoke and mirrors production, like I've been up to on my recent tracks. It's a good change-up.

Thanks for stopping by.

getting down to business take on the blues Greg. Love the imagery in your lyrics and vocals and your restrained guitar solo is perfect.

Greg, this is GREAT! Is there anything you can't do? If so, please let me know, so at least I know you're human!

Actually, &mdash 05/02/08 - 01:44:39 AM
I'm a computer that lives on the moon, and I don't have arms. So, I can't make pizzas or throw a frisbee, and do things like that.

Seriously though, thanks for the kind words, Magnatone. I can't make a good crepe, and I can't play the piano like you. I am indeed only human.

cheers,

Love this &mdash 05/02/08 - 07:17:17 AM
I think I crowded mine but this is just right- the phrasing was so cool here. For some reason this one reminds me of Steve Goodman. I could take this as serious, or as a spoof on the blues. Either way, it's a lot of fun. :-)

I had to listen to it again to hear the spoof you were talking about. Some of the lines are kinda silly if you look at them with a sense of humor. Hadn't thought of it as a spoof, but it does work either way. Cool observation!

Thanks for stopping by for a listen,

Steve, I actually sang this with my chin sitting on the edge of my desk, resting in my hands, but I wasn't drunk. It only sounds like it.

Thanks for dropping in. Your CBGB's tracks are great, by the way.

Thanks for stopping in. Feter had a great idea in this challenge. It's easy for people to participate, and you can go as crazy as you want building up his track. It was a good time.

hey greg &mdash 05/05/08 - 07:07:36 PM
It's amazing how you don't even miss drums when you have a nice solid back bone acoustic guitar beat.
Great guitar playing, excellent execution. Perfect for the intention and right on the money.

If I might add, I would like to hear louder guitars, both back and lead. But it all sounds very tight together!
Nice groove!

Love the name. Thanks for stopping by for a listen. The guitars aren't quite matched as far as reverb goes, and I was just going to fast to stop and make sure it all fit together just right. In hind sight, it sounds a little "digified" and weird because of my carelessness. Thanks for the constructive criticism. If I go back to remix this, I'll let you know.
