The Vic Vicious Band
Vic Vicious: vocals, guitar
Vinnie Vicious: backup vocals, guitar
Vance Vicious: back up vocals, bass
Vaughn Vicious: guitar
Vermin Vicious: drums
Otto Preminger: feedback guitar
Bob Dorsey: wardrobe designer & consultant
The Vic Vicious Band was known as a non-one hit wonder. They got together two days before a scheduled recording date and practiced this lone track during those two days. They could only afford to put down their tracks in one or two takes.
The band immediately self imploded three minutes after the tracks had been recorded. The original tapes had been misplaced and were recently found among a collection of Howard Cosell's nightclub tapes as a stand up comedian. A disgruntled Vermin Vaughn may have been the one who placed them there, knowing that would be the last place anyone would ever look.

Lyrics:
Pretty Onesshe laid scratches across the face
she said boy, you better know your place
i think she fears desolation streets
ch:
hey, aren't we the pretty ones
hey, we're swimming on a dime
hey, aren't we the pretty ones
every day just seems the same
i don't really care
my pretty blank stare
woman so weary, she cries of her pain
she cries so much, the clothes are stained
she said she was a high school queen
ch:
hey, aren't we the pretty ones
hey, we're swimming on a dime
hey, aren't we the pretty ones
every day just seems the same
i don't really care
my pretty blank stare
i should relate but i don't seem to understand
i should know love but it just got out of hand
i think it's gone, way too far
ch:
hey, aren't we the pretty ones
hey, we're swimming on a dime
hey, aren't we the pretty ones
every day just seems the same
i don't really care
my pretty blank stare
i don't really care

I think I dated her briefly when I was 17!
Vicious wicked tuneage bro! Has an 80's punkish-feel...Great hook. Cool harmonies. Nice, nice punchy basslines! Yup...I like everything...the whole package ROCKS!
Another classic!
Be well!
Firsties!!!
Vic Holman
did you slip in the back door? didn't see ya get past the bouncer.
um.. maybe we both knew the same girl.
That's because I AM the bouncer FOOL!
You just might have dated her too. She said she was leaving me for a young guitarist with a nervous twich...
J.A.Stewart
VICIOUS!
Very well done, Vic. You sound completely at home in this piece.
Now could you please explain this one line?...
"i should know love but it just got out of hand..."
Hmmm... LOL. Terrific job. ;)
--- Joe
Vic Holman
now that you mention it that line seems to take on a different meaning. ha.
Vic Vicious is a drifter and now that I think about it this could be about Amy Winehouse.
gail60
You always make the coolest music Vic. Same goes to Vinnie, Vaughn, Vance and Vermin :) Wonderful job here. I think I saw this group in concert. Yeah almost sure of it...Top notch Vicious Vic.
Vic Holman
The V.V's played only once on Don Kirshners Rock concert, during the commercial break. They were all eventually arrested for all the stolen equipment.
Except Bob, he brought his own clothes for the band.
or even early U2 ish
Nice nice track
:-)
Vic Holman
I couldn't decide on all punk or new wave. so I went with a little of both.
Feter
WOW ..this is totaly fit the year 81 ..how can you ?
definetly a classic ..incredible my friend YOU RCOK !!
Vic Holman
Pretty ducks possibly.
I think that was Rik's song Feter. but that's cool.
Mystified
This tune is so together. Very well done!!
Classic! :)
Vic Holman
the V.V. Band had there act together although very briefly. Rumor has it, they all sell shoes in different states.
Mystified
Such as... state of bliss? State of confusion? Hehe.
Let me just say it again--very impressive track!! :)
Vic Holman
some of that and a deteriorating mental state as well
rsorensen
great description. Killer song. I love the production on this. That little pre-chorus break is sweet, and the chorus is a bona fide crowd sing-along. Nice job, Vic Vicious.
Vic Holman
i was picturing a bunch of pumping fists in the air ala a bunch of Billy Idol's during the chorus.
Peter Bauckham
Great poster, great sound, great song!
Peter
Vic Holman
Vic Vicious Band knew no rules.... until they got arrested for stealing all the equipment. ironically when the owners got their stuff back they burned it all.
This is really cool, the guitar work is simply amazing (sad not to hear your great acoustic) but all I can say is thanks for sharing such a Classic. Gorgeous work!
Take Care
- Yeman A. Al-Rawi
Vic Holman
acoustic guitars were rarely, if ever used in punk music. Most of it came and went even before you were born. It was a radical movement back in its day.
five_extra_arms
As your personal wardrobe designer & consultant....LOL! Thanks Vic! See if I send you any more t-shirts!
Great song Vic. Man, you sound tough on this one with your vicious "HEY's" and your chunka-chunka guitar parts. The lyrics are outta hand. It must be that safety pin you're wearing. I think it caught some skin.
Killer tune Mr Vicious (as he makes us call him)
Vic Holman
as your former employer, even though the band never payed you, you were a integral part in keeping the band from being arrest for indecent exposure.
Before, (as you well know) they only had one sock between all of them. And you also know where they wore it.
DWL
are just so 80s.
Brilliant production and excellent lyrics.
In fact I think the Vicious band might have cheated as this is a bit too good!
Cheers
Dick
Vic Holman
The V.V. Band practiced hard two days before recording. It's a miracle they held it together for the 3 minutes. Except the singer who sang some of the lyrics wrong and Vermin had to rewrite them after the fact. And Vermin doesn't know how the spell.
MarkHolbrook
ALL THE WAY! I LOVED THAT BAND! When they self imploded I turned to my only last musical interest... teeny bopper tunes and I haven't been right since!
Everyone needs some Vic Vicious in their lives!!!
ROCK ON VIC!!!
Vic Holman
now a days the band is just a foot note of a foot note in the book " Rock Musics Best Self Help & Imploding Rock Bands"
lavalamp
Get the band back together. Find Vermin, the best drummer west of the Mississippi.
Great tune Vic.
LL
Vic Holman
it might be hard to get them back together. They are all recluses, even though they live in the same house. And Vermin is scheduled to get his back shaved, for the eighth time in one day.
lengold
Great, fun track Vic - really enjoyable.
Cheers
Len
Vic Holman
Vandalism is what got them here and in trouble all at the same time. If only they knew about monthly payments on equipment they may not of ended in jail and recorded one more song
the main guitar riff! Reminds me a little of the "Romantics".
This is great Vic. Nice job!
C.
Vic Holman
i went for the simplest guitar solo ever. even though the second guitar is a third, which happened only because the string was way out of tune.
Skean
As always my friend love what you're doing and this really ROCKS.
You are awesome... Bravo
Peace, Love & Respect

Vic Holman
who knows, someday I might do a heavy metal tune
tokai
very real tune. cool, the bass is boomin and the tune is a rockin..
Vic Holman
he never gets much comments on his thumping bass.
A big thanks for the listen!
chemystery
Love that guitar line and how the vocals fly over it. You really captured an eighties vibe here.
Vic Holman
I was thinking of some of the punk bands that still had a bit of a new wave touch to there sound. so this is what came about.
saymme
*HEY* ! Love Your vocals & great U got together for this..! awesome
ThankYou Vic Vinnie Vance Vaughn Vermin Otto Bob GREAT TO HEAR YOU : ) lena
Vic Holman
and the whole cyber Vic Vicious band members thanks you as well.
davisamerica
right then vic is vicious anarchy cool
Vic Holman
none of the members could hold a day job back in the day. it just fueled their viciousness. well that's the story on the streets.
This is a crowd pleaser for sure, a rowdy crowd that is
When we see you live I expect this song to be squished somewhere in your live playlist, perhaps as an encore, Love it!
Vic Holman
playing live. it would be a short set. my voice would go out after the fourth song then the crowd would get unruly
Nick_Flash
The synths sound great in this. Gives it that 80's feel. I love the bass line - very groovy.
Great job Vic
Vic Holman
it's actually a guitar. I use a volume pedal, distortion, a long stereo delay & reverb. you can really get some cool sounds.
buckhorn
are well crafted, and well produced. You could through in some stinkers just for variation. Another good one.
Vic Holman
oh I've done more then my fair share of stinking tunes. Still can't get the smell out of my other computer

about sums it up!

There is no denying the awesomeness of this song!
Vic, you rock!
Hey would you tell Vermin I really liked his furry mammal like drumming?
Thanks!
Vic Holman
and pleased. he is way overdue to have his back shaved. :-)
your punk tune is killer sir pink!
bud
the big hair and the skinny ties - Phoebe Cates and Molly Rinwald all pretty in pink. Great track Vic - excellent CB demo.
Vic Holman
pretty in pink. Hey Bud. I started thinking of some of the punk bands that also had some new wave style. like generation x and the furs. i think the vocal edged it to the fur side a bit.
this has been a blast
...this is vicious on many levels, hehe! Excellent track Vic!
Vic Holman
Not only is the V.V. Band vicious but the gal in the lyrics is as well. a tough crowd that ran around with each other.
egobandit
for a moment I thought I was listening to some famous musician who is using MJ's as a hiding place! Excellent downloaded
Vic Holman
not hiding. just a duck and cover scenerio.
it was great of you to plant the idea for this whole thing.
gregd
and the music rocks too.
Nice work. I like the lack of rhymes in the lyrics. It gives the whole delivery an out of step feeling, with the music driving like it does.
Nice,
-g
Vic Holman
I wanted to create some tension during the verses to give it a edgy feel, also to counter the chorus.
thanks for the listen!
way to good to be mere punk, for sure. loved this song start to finish. your music is great. the nice thing about the internet is the way we can all enjoy these tunes together. even now this song has a kind of retro art-rock resonance. even today it is a viable genre. good music holds up in any time. great job, brother!
Allen
Vic Holman
Surprisingly there were quit a few albums back then that were really well done. and some of the bands also injected a bit of the new wave to them as well. that was my springboard.
I agree this place is cool to "not to be restricted to current trends in music"
great tune you pulled off. I couldn't believe you could pull off the vocals so well for the punk sound!
Norman Goodman
Nice union of punk and new wave. During the transition period from disco I always thought New Wave had a more punk vibe than rock. I was just a wee one then.....so what do I know.
Song has a great hook and excellent textures. The variety of sound of the instrumentation is perfect and suits the harmonic layers perfectly.
Sounds pretty solid for a band that only got together 2 days before the gig. What happened to them?
Anybody wind up in jail?
Join Jim & Tammy Fay Bakers ministry?
Become smooth jazz artists?
Vic Holman
I've got tons of late seventy and early 80's new wave vinyl albums collecting dust in the basement. some very cool songs happening then.
rumour has it that all the ex band members are shoe salesman. They use to watch Jim and Tammy on TV with the volume off and add there own nasty dialouge.
Killer from the go-line, and it rocks right through a brick wall from there. It sounds deceptively stripped-down, but this one's built for speed! Best opening I've heard in a long time, Vic - excellent treatment, feel and edge.
Vic Holman
Sorry to tell you the V.V. Band ate your ducks. feathers and all. Sorry, but a great song you did.
...well, I was going to trade them to a Chinese restaurant in exchange for a subway ticket to the Port Authority bus station, but it's a sunny day in NYC, I'll just walk instead.
Even the feathers... wow, that's punk.
Rebsie
Fantastic. I can't think of anything intelligent to say about it but I absolutely love it.
Vic Holman
personally I threw intelligence out the window years ago. It only got me in trouble.
Really dug your entry, you are a true punk queen!
Rebsie
*blush* Thank you! That's what a misspent youth has done for me.
michael2
this is like something o would have been really into but was pissed they only had 1 import single. did you guys put your single out on Rough Trade? love that thin fuzzy gtr sound.
Vic Holman
on the backside of the 45, was 3 minutes of a air condition, no one was pleased.
The V.V. Band did record a faster harder song a year & a half previous to this recording, but it never saw the light of day. time will tell if they can ever re-unite to redo the piece.
jiguma
but it's still a VH song :)
If this was what punk was about I might have been more interested when it was around.
Lovely sounds as usual - a top grade mix and the sound is just great. Nice bass sound too.
Neil
Vic Holman
I blame it on my fingers.... and the voice.
during those years, when i was in basement bands everyone was finding some cool albums that fused punk & new wave. A lot of good albums went under the radar during that time.
Bob6stringer
Damn! Another bunch of punks stole me gig out from under me. Hell, I couldn'a gotten something done of this quality anyway. Godo energy, Vic. Great vox as well as everything else.
Vic Holman
obviously, it seems that there are a lot more punks hanging out at this site then first rumored. I'm parking my car in the garage.
Macaudion
...but, I hate to compare artist here to well known and successful artist, but you do remind me of one that was one of my favorites. I haven't heard from him in awhile and that's, Tom Petty. Appreciation by association doesn't have to be a bad thing, I guess.
I like everything about this but, I especially like your vocals and g'tar one this! Perhaps I should know at least, something, about what this "cb"challenge is all about but, bare naked intelligence has me dign' this enough.
Thanks for the submission, Vic! Dion
Vic Holman
actually you're not the only to think that I'm Tom Petty hanging out here in disguise. But, I would feel very weird if one of my songs appeared on one of his albums. that alternative universe thing can be hairy.
timothy devine
cool tune.
I love it.

Vic Holman
ya know, I bet that early seventies strat of yours could still pummel out some hard action. Never to old to rock ya know :-)

They just keep getting better and better! very nice work VV. (Vic Vicious) I like it and the pic is funny shat brother......
Vic Holman
Thanks for the listen!
I'll send you a note about the dummy in a tv spot I did
Scott Carmichael
nailed that 80's vibe... reminds me of "Simple Minds"... OK exuse me while I go moose my hair....
Vic Holman
ah yeah, those days. a dab of mouse and a hairblower and you are set to meet the ladies. this one, it's kitten's got claws.
guitapick
...one of the marks of a great electric guit/amp combo is how it sounds at a lower volume (pots turned down)...yours sounds g-r-e-a-t in this...then you crank 'er up and it's clear sailing, Vic...
Great tune...timeless in my world....
Vic Holman
I'm very careful about distortion levels. I used my Gibson SG on this one. It has a nice cutting drive. and i varied the overdrive levels on each guitar. i also use a pedal board that i can switch between 2 amp setting with a expression pedal.
It is fantastic and great lyrics. Loved it to bits. Sorry i am late commenting
But I did fav and dowload previous. Thanks.
Peace Dee.
Vic Holman
I really appreciate you giving the tune a listen. It's weird to think that the first punk era was so long ago.
Bob Rodgers
Great song Vic! I really enjoyed this, love the bass and guitars, a great production and this sounds fantastic! Loved it!
Vic Holman
I'm lucky it came together without falling apart. I allowed myself only one or two takes on each track channel. whew!

Vicious description:)
I hope this comment won't implode once I post it...
Very much a Vic Holman signature sound in this. It must be flowing in your vains... Those ignited guitars and the good melodies, catchy refrains, cool voice... great recipe!
Vic Holman
I do have a bucket of water close by just in case of anymore implosions.
Thanks for listen to my punk/new wave side.
You Rock!!
Peace Dee.
Vic Holman
Thanks Dee
