Description:
from Bryn:

In an alternative universe we enlisted the help of the virtual B52's
148 bpm of pure sonic pleasure...
LOUDER, BRASHER, FASTER
None of that ambient sh** here!

from Cat:

Uh...I'm supposed to sing what????

(Seriously...this was a ton of fun to sing to. THANK YOU, Bryn, for cooking up a great spur-of-the-moment punk backdrop for me to go crazy to. You're a fab magpie! ;)

Lyrics:
Your daddy was a Physicist
Your mama was a Nurse
They filled your head with Science
Til you thought that it would burst.

They drew up plans for Harvard--
But it wasn't meant to be.
'Cause you were working day and night
On learning 'string theory'

CHORUS:
String Theory
You were playing A & B
Eb and a G and D
You were playing string theory

You never thought you'd do much more
Than start out in a band
But then you soon discovered
That your skills were in demand

You hated crunching numbers
But you ruled at crunching chords
And everywhere you play
They always cheer and shout for more

(CHORUS)

String theory...etc...
Supersymmetry....and Excitation Modes....

Love it! &mdash 05/02/08 - 02:09:54 AM
I used to be really into The B-52's first album - I worked in a hi-fi store when I left school and I used to play it to everyone to demonstrate the equipment.

Great stuff.

I'm feeling it!

I saw the B52s recently and it was almost as cool as this!

Good job with those tricky key parts!

Really catchy fun song - could have been a contender.

Totally &mdash 05/02/08 - 09:05:36 AM
feel like I'm in a club head bashing to this! WOW!!!

The only complaint is it needs to be more DIRTY! (not language...) but disjointed guitar rips etc...

But man this is really good!!!!

OH YA!! &mdash 05/02/08 - 09:24:25 AM
I got the beat! This is really awesome!! Totally 80's!

This really gives me flashbacks of gloves with the fingers cut off, leg warmers and spikey hair.

This was a fun listen for sure.

Great job guys!

abelian isometries &mdash 05/02/08 - 02:19:57 PM
Yeah, this reminds me of B52's too.

It also reminds me that in string theory it is known that abelian isometries in the a-model lead to target space duality. We can generalize this duality to backgrounds with non-abelian isometries.

"Ruled at crunching chords..."
That is by far my favorite line and I loved they way you sang it!
Great track and I especially liked the safety pin in the eyeball!

Alright - I was really hoping someone &mdash 05/03/08 - 03:06:38 PM
would go for B52 bait and this fantastic. Love the vocals and production and the lyric concept is perfect. Great track. Between this and Suicide - my night at CB's is complete.

Feels good to get a little outta your comfort zone sometimes, doesn't it Cat? Good job. Sounds like you had a lotta fun doing this.

Nice crunchy soundbed Bryn. Sonic Magpie rules!

Be well friends!

Well, hopefully between us we've dispelled a few myths on MJ about nice mild-mannered female singers. :)

Great to hear you pushing the boundaries Cat, and Bryn has sewn together the seams very nicely.
