Lyrics:
i'm coming back to NYC from LAThey'll throw a 21 gun parade.
My little girl, my habit locked me up in a cage
But I'm crawling back here to tell you...
Your daddy sicc'd his lawyer on my skinny bones
But i just wont accept his calls
Im coming back with NYC in my blood
chop me up...
Oh the sun is shining
and this fool is blinded (i'll watch your cells dividing)
Be my little razorblade
I'm coming back to New York City from LA
They'll throw a 21 gun paarde
I'm coming back with NYC in my blood
Chop me up ...
A highschool dream, you taught me how to play that scene
Kiss me like amphetamine
I went away, went off the track and shrunk my veins
Some melancholy getaway

No Bud? How can this be?
Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh. Proper comment to follow. I'm off to kiss some amphetamine.

Fantastic guys, but really how could it be otherwise with this band? This one is the ultimate entry to this thing for me, not only because you captured the sound so well, but the spirit of the whole challenge, too.
I love this place, I love you guys and if I weren't already married, I'd marry the bass on this song.
ledebutant
I also love the gang of Steves singing back up. You'll have to teach me how to do that someday.
Peter Bauckham
what a collaboration - it don't get much better than this!

didn't this ace band deserve a name of its own (except "The Macjams' New-wave all-stars")
echoroom
... long and troubled story that! Ask Bob!
five_extra_arms
Grrrrrrrr!
(I'm not the happiest kid in Valrico when I think about it the trouble I went through to get this song posted with a new band name.)
Great post Steve. You have a super tight band and man, your vocals sound great and everything else sounds pro. It must be awesome to work with these chaps!
Bob

the clashing of the egos is always the trouble with supergroups ;)
Heroin_Marys
We've worked with people like this and we've never been able to agree on anything, except a band name.
We tried to post a song but for some bizarre reason it was never approved. I wonder if it was our band name?
Excellent song guys. You are a supergroup if I've ever seen one.
Mary
Killer Tune! Superb singing and great music work!
Killer Bro.

big time producer .. LOL .. pfft .. your such a weeze ..
glad you asked me Steve to help out tweak this already fab, catchy, well constructed tune (even if I couldn't figure (skate?) out who was doing what), otherwise I wouldn't have had time to get involved at all in the wonder that is CBGB.
I didn't want to over 'produce' it .. (hard to achieve just post processing with Ozone anyways) .. and I liked it still having some 'demo'ish qualities... that was the idea after all.
Off to smoke a big fat cigar ..run off with the money to warmer climes ..anyone want a deal with EMI?? hehehe (in keeping with character) ;o)
echoroom
You did a GREAT job on this - I should post the 'before' to let people hear! I couldnt open the setting you sent me, but i have downloaded the ozone manula, so i just dont piss about with presets!
Cheers matey!
Marv
You guys took the words right out of my little puppy mouth!
You're my heroes!

Steve, outstanding. It all meshes like you guys were in the same room. Special props to APB on the mix. Brilliant job tying all these great performances together.
echoroom
APB deserves the props, and Phil the Van Dude gave excellent mix advice too - thanks PVD!

Excellent singing as usual, Steve. Your band isn't bad either. Great collab!
chip
and loud and in yer face... big neon-night synth sliding down my skin while those big guitars are shaking the brickwork loose. This is big and frikkin' awesome, big and... big... want to head down to Times Square at midnight, striding like I own the damned place. Rockin'!
chemystery

Awesome song Steve. Is there a world tour in your future? (Sorry for the long absence... good to see someone's still productive.)
echoroom
Nice to know you're still around. One day we must do a duet -it'll be more Bowie than Bowie!
perceptualvortex
Once NYC gets in your blood, it stays there. Great work, everyone.
The Infinites
Pleasure to have so many talented MJ stars in the one room. I think Bowie needs this one to complete his next album.
I'll see what I can do...
Love it.
Jim

is just a great song. the best part is I knew this challenge would drag Steve out of his partial sabbatical. Great track.
echoroom
... and they pulled me back in! i couldnt refuse Bud, or these guys - I mean, who could????
bud
what a ruckus of excess all for the sake of nihilistic thrills and super juicy ear candy. Yum. Very Scary Monsters. Great collab boys - you really did it his time.
echoroom
Man, it is Scary Monsters type of guitar - my fav Bowie album! Wow, great job Tom! Thanks Bud!
Vic Holman
great tune!
Excellent vocals and lyrics Steve. You've chopped me up to pieces.
Tom Wounded's cool guitars, man he has been working overtime for this event.
Bob on black & scratchy pumping out the bottom end, nice.
keys and drums right on the money.
jiguma
Very David Byrne bits in the vocals Steve. Top all round collab. Seems I might have missed some of the 80s too ;)
Neil
echoroom
I think i was still channeling DB after the Bud collaboration, bit of a Talking Heads hangover. You can also just about hear Toms vocal in the mix!
lengold
any better than this. Superb in every way. Well done all of you.
Cheers
Len
davisamerica

davisamerica
glad the other wankers didn't get in your way...lol kidding .. great collab guys!!
five_extra_arms
I tried to get in the way, but Steve is a grizzly bulldozer. He crushes anything that tries to stop him from screaming his lungs out.
Chop me up! Chop me up!!
echoroom
thanks... it was OK 'til Dorsey got involved and nearly got us banned from the site for underage drinking - he's SUCH a bad influence!
davisamerica
you guys are seriously sick ... in the best way possible ... once again giant KUDOS to all!
The sun is shining for sure on this one gentlemen.
Sounds Great!
C.
...but I don't remember the 80's sounding this GOOD! Ha ha...
You guys definitely should stay in business for awhile! This is one of the finest collabs I've heard at MJ.

Be well friends!
echoroom

...says to Lou Reed, he says, get Bowie after that last Transformer session, and meet me down at CBGB... We'll jam on 'Baby's On Fire' until it morphs into something else...
Or...or...or maybe something else happened...
Ed
echoroom

Great collab...
Nick_Flash
You guys certainly know how to do it. Very catchy chorus too.
Well done!
VicDiesel
Some of those guitar sounds are definitely sharper than a safety pin!
Fun Song to work out with the boys!
The first thing that hit me when I heard the vocals in the chorus was Axl Rose!
Sounds real good Steve you hit the bulleye
The rest of the band rocks also :D
its Bobs bass that kick started this
and Jim layered some nice sound paint on it.
Yeah, I'm proud to be a part of this number!
i already commented on this one. i opened the page again, and saw i did not even fave it. i apologize. i listened to it a few times and thought i fave'd this one. brilliant job. it feels like 1980 all over again!

The sun is shining.... Stuck in my tiny little head with Tom's unforgettable guitar riffs.
Actually, I think I have most of the playlist from the CBGB Demo stuck in my head. Why not, it's stuck in my iPod!

I'm with Ejh on this one Steve, very Transformery, but really really good too, has that essential Bowie tweaked chorus that saved Lou's hide and added that much needed grace, yeah grace and smack. Brilliant stuff in every single respect lads.
echoroom
I dont know what this has to do with giant robots????!!!
Thanks Willy - great to hear from ya!

Now, I'm back. This is terrific. I was feelin' a bit trashed after a weekend of camping and this brought me back to civilization, in a good way.
Greatest "Cool"-aboration.......get it?
Dave
five_extra_arms
Dave,
Where'd you camp? Did you take any pictures? Did you see any bear? Can you build a fire without a match? Did you make Smores? Did you tell ghost stories?
lavalamp
A real man doesn't bring a camera when camping. Slept on the ground with the spiders. Ate roots and insects. I am now one with nature.........thank God I'm home.

Great hook! Hi Steve - been away for a while so apologies for the late comment. Missed the whole CBGB thing, which sounded fun. This is so authentic I'm sure I bought it back in 1981!
It is a great hook though. Gonna be singing this doing the hoovering!
