Description:
Well, this is brand new. I just purchased an Electro Acoustic Ibanez guitar and I just love the way it sound. While strumming some chords, I came across a progression that invited me to sing almost organically. I recorded this only using the mac built-in input (sometimes I get lazy and just want hear results!)
I got a little experimental with the vocals since I realized I had a lot of spare tracks! I suggest you listen to this on your headphones, you'll get a better picture of my intention. As always, thank you for listening!
Lyrics:
Follow me,
Rescue me,
Use your reasons.
Convince me,
Let me see,
Tie the loose ends.
Coral Reefs,
things with teeth,
Hungry thieves and lack of sleep.
Naturally, when we pretend.
Autumn leaves, they survive in the wind before falling and hitting the street that dissolves them.
Trust these 3 words: trust in me.
Tempt your taste buds with some sweets.
Trust these 3 words: let me be.
Rest your sweet eyes, get some sleep.

i really like the opening chords. this is calmly psychedelic (the vocals remind me of early Pink Floyd (that's good!)) then it slowly builds up in energy level... but still very smooth
very nice!
thanks

I would love to believe that I can sound anything like Pink Floyd. I used to double vocals all the time - for the natural flanger-and then, I kind of stopped. I feel it can add to a mood. This melody just came about and it turned out to be soothing, in a way.
Thank you for your comment! [ Reply to This ]

This is a real natural feeling melody and solid chord progression. The guitar break after the second verse builds on the progression without sounding forced at all, very natural, almost as if you let the song goes where it wants without getting in it's way. [ Reply to This ]
You know &mdash 05/09/08 - 01:50:59 PM
It's funny you mention that "I let it go where it wanted to" because it really did happen that way. I barely tweeked it at all from the first rough idea that came to me.
The song itself is basically built upon 2 chords and redundancy.
I'm glad it came across that way. Thank you for listening. [ Reply to This ]
really good &mdash 05/06/08 - 04:07:50 PM
love what you've done here. great lyrics, great vocals. your vocal experimenting reminds me a lot of Doug Martsch's album 'Now You Know'. Check it out if you don't know it - it's amazing.
Very cool song! Now don't be so lazy next time and record in GarageBand at least. You can still do it quick but it'll sound a little bigger ;) [ Reply to This ]
Thanks man! &mdash 05/09/08 - 02:10:14 PM
No, I'm not familiar with that album. I'll check it out though.
Yeah, I have to stop being lazy. Maybe it's a mix of idleness and lack of patience that make me want to get the song out.
Do you know the limit of tracks I can record on garageband? I know that somewhere after 8, listening to all of them simultaneously gets kind of tricky. YOu can hear them on the export though...just wondering.
I really appreciate your input though. Your stuff rocks. Thanks for listening. [ Reply to This ]

There is something &mdash 05/09/08 - 02:20:10 PM
about a new guitar. Even though, I try not to neglect my old cracked guitar, this one sounds much brighter.
It's funny, I don't know about you guys but there are just sometimes when a guitar sounds sweeter and more inviting to creativity than others. It doesn't even have to be a new one. It just happens, kind of strange...
Thanks so much for the kind remarks Godchaser. it really means a lot to me. [ Reply to This ]
