Lyrics:
horizoni'm lookin down
from this tower
i see our town
i hear the power
the wind is singing
through the wires
electric humming
that never tires
the sky is very clear
it's hypnotizin'
why did i climb up here?
to see the horizon
it's getting dark
the red light is flashin'
i've left my mark
in my own fashion
it's time to climb back down
descend the rungs
again to touch the ground
to complete what i've begun
the sky is very clear
it's hypnotizin'
why did i climb up here?
to see my horizon

I like this song. I could feel you climbing the tower and imagined your hair blowing straight up from all the static around you. I hear the constant buzz and feel the fear of you being up so high. I really Loved your voice on this. Very smooth and entertaining. Nice guitar and just an all around Great job.

Vocals really nice. And the song itself has a strong Neil Young feel to it.
great tune Bill. I totally enjoyed this!!

love the music, and really love the "multi-level" lyrics... and good job singing this too. You drew nice parallels on the horizon with the van de graaff... my hair is still standing on end.

it's "all natural" if you'll allow the bass and piano synths.
i borrowed my wife's Gibson acoustic. i played and sang into a single mic, one take. then i added the bass and piano by playing along on the keyboards.
this one took less than hour from concept to final mix. i never did a song before that fast.

over the horizon, I hear things are better.
Wonderfully evocative Bill.

Cool imagery in here, and you're brave. I'd be afraid of getting arc-ed. The guitar sounds rich, and the lyrics make me think about life.

the lyrics are very poetic. i like the light percussion sounds in the background it sort of gives the feel of people walking bellow the tower. the vocals sort of grow on you as the song goes on. they are rather timid with a dark quality. at first i wasn't sure about it but it starts to pull you in and fits the lyrics. it sort of gives the feeling of fear.

this is just SWEEET... your vocals are great and the lyrical picture painted is brilliant ... very nice indeed

Autobiographical? I never did this one...but my friends dared me to. One of the few dares I wouldn't touch...
Choice of guitar with those great chord changes is perfect for the lyrics.
"...to see my horizon..."

well, a buddy and i did climb up a huge water tower once as kids. the view from up there was incredible.
maybe there are some metaphors based on water towers, but high voltage cable towers have a lot more potential for metaphors...
thanks!

Just been listening to sonnyjim's take on this for the MJ Covers challenge, and I am very glad I was sent this way. A very cool song; love the song, and the vocal is great. Your voice over that lovely acoustic is just sweet. A great track. Sorry it took me so long to get here! Nice one. Peace.

I came to this via Sonny Jim's version. Good to hear the original. I guess that's partly what this contest is all about. Good stuff and nice lyrics!
