Description:
Sometimes we can sleepwalk through our lives without realizing what is missing. This story song is about one woman's awakening on a winter day.
As usual, my focus here was on lyric and melody.
Lyrics:
Lived my life in narrow ways
Wonder Bread and mayonnaise
Worked a job from nine to five
I never knew that I was alive
Year by year in russet hues
Work until the evening news
Steady stream of dingy days
Lived my life in narrow ways
I don't believe
In Fairy Tales
I don't believe
In Holy Grails
I don't believe
In shining knight
But I believe in love
At first sight
One chill day in Rosemont Square
I glanced left and you were there
I tripped and sprawled, no grace at all
What a time to take a fall
You rushed over, all concerned
Embarrassment throughout me burned
Could a handsome stranger care
One chill day in Rosemont Square
I don't believe
In Fairy Tales
I don't believe
In Holy Grails
I don't believe
In shining knight
But I believe in love
At first sight
Loneliness was cast away
Your hand in mine, a passion play
Your cheeks were frosted cherry red
Hair like fresh-baked gingerbread
Blue eyes held mine; I tasted sky
Knew that I had found my guy
A miracle on that chill day
Loneliness was cast away
I don't believe
In Fairy Tales
I don't believe
In Holy Grails
I don't believe
In shining knight
But I believe in love
At first sight
I don't believe
In Fairy Tales
I don't believe
In Holy Grails
I don't believe
In shining knight
But I believe in love
At first sight

Your voice is like the limbo... How LOOOOOOOW can you
go? ;-)
Simple song (music wise, I would have liked to hear the
awakening), but some nice emotions in there. You have a
very interesting voice. [ Reply to This ]

macapa - I'm a little embarassed to say that I can go lower than that! I have a
low speaking voice as well. And yes, the musical background is very simple in
this one, because I wanted the listener to focus entirely on the lyric and
melody.
Thank you for listening! [ Reply to This ]

incredible lyrics/poetry-you make it seem so easy! i kind
of wished that the low sounding horn in the background
would change up a little. kinda droned on after awhile.
somehow the strings get away with it tho. very nice [ Reply to This ]

_nderscore, the low horns are actually low strings and are part of the string
loop. I have no idea how to change the components of a loop. As you can
probably tell, I'm not much of an expert on GB. I'm discovering things every
time I use it.
I really appreciate your comments on the lyric, as they were the focus of this
song. I thank you most sincerely. [ Reply to This ]
Simple is often best! &mdash 05/04/06 - 01:14:55 AM
Just 3 loops eh - excellent vocals and lyrics. That sure is impressive
singing through a pinhole mic. I really like this!
Thanks,
