Description:
I guess some of us as children thought we would run off to join the carnival. this is a story about a wonderful woman I know who did. At 17 yrs old she had had enough abuse from her parents and walked "Away"

Lyrics:
Close the door for the last time.
Hear the screen door latch as you walk away.
don't know whats ahead of you
but you can't keep livin life this way.

Shed some tears with a smile on your face.
miss your dad, sisters and friends at Kelsy Lake. With all that stored up in your sole you got to get away.
can't live life this way.

Travlin show livin on the road,
Just a kid in a world with neon lights.
found your way and made a name,
let it go only you know why.

Repeat chorus:

Older now found your peace,Journy's done only memories.
Found a friend till death we part,
isen't that the way they say it should be.

Shed some tears with a smile on your face.
Miss your dad call your sisters and friends at Kelsey Lake.
You lived your years and found the life you thought you would that day.
The day you walked "Away"

Classic! &mdash 05/07/08 - 04:45:33 PM
Wonderful sound on those acoustic guitars. Vocals are nearly Dylan-esque. Maybe even a little Cat Stevens...

Some fine singing and story-telling here Russ. Love it!

Be well friend!

I like real songs- &mdash 05/07/08 - 05:46:28 PM
Well put together and performed, - love the guitar sound, - the beginning of it reminded me of Led Zeppelin's,-Hey hey what can I do, - I think this song would have stood one of Zep's famous build ups as well.

Very instant and enjoyable,

John.

Nicely understated performance.

I loved the little flourishes that sit on the edge and don't dominate.

Cheers

A really poignant lyric. The vocal style fits perfectly. I counted at least 3 guitars which sounded great thanks to the panning and clear recording. No need to add anymore instruments/drums here it%u2019s such a good track.
All the best

3 Guitars &mdash 05/08/08 - 06:31:26 AM
and there was a drum track that I took out, to much going on. I wanted a simple song. and the lyric, the story is what it's about. thanks for listening.

song, i know a girl like that too. The opening sounds a bit like mother by Floyd. Lovely playing.

Yeah I like it but I have reservations about your vocal... maybe if you back off the mic a wee bit 'cos the delivery is sound but it's (pour moi) a trifle in your face. Good job chief.

Very nicely done, singing was honest and you get a sense that the voice ..you..are saying this a story worth listening to....so listen to it..authorative without being pushy. The song is sensitive without being maudlin....great job, well played sah!!D/Led

You know you're doing something right when your song is reminiscent of Cat Stevens, Dylan AND Led Zepplin! This is just sensational - add me to the list of fanatical fans of this great piece. Thanks!

Hits the mark... &mdash 05/11/08 - 11:33:00 AM
for me. Russ, you have a classic folk delivery... as others have said, Dylanesque... which in my book is a good as it gets. Couple that with your fine guitar playing and great lyrics... you have a great song.

This gave me goosebumps.. Ive been pianting murals in a hospice and this song kind of goes with my experience there. Crazy how much this song can evoke a strong feeling of sadness and at the same time triumph in life and then rest at the end of life. Excellent!
