Thank you &mdash 05/08/08 - 05:30:13 PM
I know very little about classical music except that I enjoy listening to it,so I am unable to offer anything constructive. Thank you so much, enjoyed your work and it is going in my downloads for future enjoyment.

Interesting stuff &mdash 05/08/08 - 10:18:30 PM
Is this whole section to be Pizz - and how realistic do you want it to be. I like the rhythm and the harmonic development for the most part - but some of the faster phrases are unlikely for pizz strings. Still - it is an interesting start - and I'd be interested to see where you go with it. WIll check out more of your stuff too! [ Reply to This ]
Realism &mdash 05/09/08 - 02:56:42 AM
Hi Lunatrick
Thanks for the comment - this is something I'm intending to be the central part of an entirely pizzicato middle movement - ultimately the piece will have three movements. When you said about how realistic it might be, were you specifically talking about the triplet patterns near the end? I did wonder as I was writing them if it would be feasible to play them that quick as pizz, but I'm not a string player (and I don't know any) so it's hard for me to gauge [ Reply to This ]

Quartet 1 &mdash 05/09/08 - 05:27:07 PM
Well - this is simply amazing. Whether or not it's "realistic" in the sense of how the actual instrument plays (and I have NO idea), the sounds you're getting here are gorgeous. This is very interesting, I like the development of the theme, can't wait to hear more! [ Reply to This ]

Really fine. &mdash 05/12/08 - 04:13:05 PM
Really fine work here! You've created a very original but instantly appealing work; a tremendous achievement.
Regarding the practicality of the triplet pizz's towards the end, well, the only way to know is to show it to a violinist to see what they think. I think it may be possible, especially since they wouldn't be holding the bow in their RH as they play (which slows things down a bit), but it would be a definite challenge, and I suspect most string players would balk at having to play those triplets. But string players often balk at anything unfamiliar, so the key would be to find some players who are open to trying new things. [ Reply to This ]
Maybe a Harp for those Triplets? &mdash 05/12/08 - 06:23:17 PM
This is a very nice piece. Maybe you could expand the scoring to include a Harp to achieve those triplets. They ARE pretty quick for a string players. Also gives you an additional plucky timber when you have the strings playing bowed.
Really nice harmonies in this, as well as motion and nice polyphonic writing. [ Reply to This ]
