Lyrics:
AhmedI was looking for a policeman
Can you help, can you help me PC
Someone stole, stole away my honey
Now she's gone, gone with greasy
We were away, away in Tunisia
When she met, when she met Ahmed
He was tanned and very good looking
And very proud and promised to wed
I never got, got to love you
Come back, come back, come back
I promise I'll be everything you wanted
You can have all my stack
Your father and even your sister
Think you must, must be quite mad
For me they even feel sorry
'Cause without you I'm so sad

Jack, if anyone tried to steal my snack they'd be in big trouble.
Really pleased you enjoyed it. I think it's one of those songs that people will either love or hate. was a bit worried about posting it.
Thanks again Jack (still waiting for yours' and getting impatient.

Len
for something completely different....
i like that you are never tied down to any specific style. unless ecclectic is a style. i liked what you did with your vocals on this one. i was thinking the other day;
" i bet len could do some other styles with his voice, and i wonder how it would sound?"
this is like a twisted circus train ride with a rockabilly band playing for your listeing pleasure... great track len. i need to think along these lines sometime...
Allen Dean
lengold
pleased to see you here Allen - I really appreciate your support. I am blown away to think that you were thinking of me the other day.
Glad you enjoyed my bit of nonsense.

This is fantastic, I love it !
Do you know by any chance "The Real Tuesday Weld" ?
lengold
much for visiting - I am a big fan of yours'. Just looking at youtube videos of 'The Real Tuesday Weld' - I had not heard of them but now I have, I am very interested in hearing more. Very unusual stuff - enjoyed the 'Clerkenwell' one, I only live about a quarter of a mile from there and spent most of my working life in the Clerkenwell area.
Thanks again for the comment - really appreciated.
Cheers

Ibstrat
masterpiece Lengold.I'd love to see a live performance of this.Seriously- post it on youtube!
lengold
might be a bit too strong Mark - just a bit of fun, I felt that my songs were getting a bit 'samey' and needed to do something different.
Who could I get to play Ahmed in the video? Interesting idea - I will give it some thought.
Thanks a lot for your support Mark - really appreciated.

great song with an almost Bonzo Dog quality about it. The main thing is that it's entertaining and fun and instant. I cant help feeling that William's chopper could have made an entry somewhere in it though!!
Good one Len.
John.
lengold
Do you know John, I think you have been an influence on me - I needed to do some fun. i used to love the Bonzo's - but didn't make the connection until now.
I thought that I'd leave William's Chopper alone because I am certain that you're dying to play with it yourself and wouldn't want to intrude.
Thanks for the encouraging comments John - very appreciated.

...is just TOO good, man...
Your choice of instrumentation and the overlays go so, so well with the theme of the story...
"Unique" is a strange word...so let's call it: soooooo cooooool....
lengold
so much for the lovely comments - I enjoyed doing this one.

Quite a manic track you've got there. I love the tuba-like sound in the bass.
lengold
to have you visit Vic - nothing wrong with being silly once in a while. Thanks for the comment.

I have to admit I couldn't imagine how you go from an empty LP screen to getting this! Inventive in lots of ways - a really interesting post Len.
Love the reprise too.
Impressed in Oz!
Neil
lengold
Impressed - is a word I like, especially from you Neil. Usually I write a 'proper' song on the piano first. But in this case I did just start with a blank screen and was just playing around. Didn't really think it would come to anything.
I faded the song out and logic faded it back in again without any help from me - I decided to not play with fate and just altered the sounds a bit for the fade back in - strange eh?
Really appreciate the listen and comment Neil.
Cheers from the UK.

ledebutant
This rules, Len. Truly a very imaginative work, but also it never swerves into being ridiculous or silly. It's incredibly listenable and entertaining and it's posts like this that make you one of the most fascinating and distinctive artists on the site.
lengold
Lisa, that's one of the nicest comments I've ever had. Massive thank you.

Len
i like this! a little bit trashy - very innovative, amazing!
lengold
lot for your comment - really appreciated. You know I've seen your avatar lots of times, but I've only just noticed the ice cream is licking you - wonderful.

Macaudion
Well just how ingenious was that... Dynamic discordance... masterfully rhythmic, especially at the beginning.
And just how long did it take for you to recover from having made this... It would seem that one would have to derange oneself in order to be able to get this out.
I had to shake like a freshly wetted dog and walk around a few circles and back, when I was done.
Pretty damn clever, Len! Good one! Thanks for the shake up! Dion
lengold
love reading your comments Dion, I would love to see you shaking like a freshly wetted dog. Thanks so much for the lovely compliments. Very appreciated.

Vic Holman
so oddly unique. and cooler then heck.
Man, you must of had the funnest time putting this together. excellent!
lengold
Yeah, it was fun to do - but I was a bit stuck for quite a while at one stage with what to do with it. Then the Tunisia story appeared in my brain from nowhere and it all fell into place.
Thanks for your continued support Vic - extremely appreciated.
Cheers
Len
Scott Carmichael
obviously there is not enough tuba in my music... I wonder how many folks listened through the reprise and abrupt ending.. clever, creative, spoooky wierd, in a good (no great way)... you are twisted in such a perfect way... the evidence is all over this piece of work...
loved it
lengold
a great deal to me to have you comment on my song. You are an artist I truly admire.
It makes me very happy to know that you enjoyed it enough to comment - very appreciated. Thanks.

Wow Len - fantastic production on this - really smart use of effects. This is nuts - has a real circus feel to it (!?). The 'greasy' line reminds me of Borat for some reason. Love how you sing 'tunisia'!
lengold
I have actually been to Kazakhstan where Borat 'comes from', maybe it was an influence. Mind you, you've probably been there too I would guess?
Actually that 'Tunisia' bit is my favourite too.
Really pleased you liked it Steve and thanks for always taking the time - all the best.

This is really cool. Yea, definately Dog Do Da band, I'd forgotten them!
Very different from your usual, I liked it alot.
lengold
I did warn you Bob that this one was different - I was a bit afraid of posting it. I hope you are working on a new one - I will be checking up, so get on with it.
Pleased you enjoyed it Bob - looking forward to seeing you both soon and our holiday.
Cheers
Len
I was waiting for Len's new song for sometime and that's why yesterday, I had to check some of your oldies and listen to them. Happy to hear the new one today... as Feter said "always the unexpected". This is amazingly fun but great work... Very Fine Sir!!
Take Care

you so much for taking the time to listen and for your lovely comments.
Are you on holiday now? I would also interested to know why you called yourself 'Birdman Wayne' must be a good story there?
All the best and...

five_extra_arms
Well Len, you did warn me that you weren't going to pull any punches on this one... This was a real cool surprise as the intro wasn't what I was expecting all the crazy carnival sounds to jump out of. Your vocals are energetic and a bit humorous. I love the departure from some of your other slower, darker vocal treatments. (This is still plenty dark, so don't worry). I also really appreciate the amazing amounts of silence you allowed, never rushing, always building the anticipation. The big pause at the end before your outro was another great example of using that time dramatically.
Killer track Len. You live on the cutting edge!
Bob
lengold
Thanks Bob for letting me use you as a sounding board for this. As you know I was floundering a bit with it. You gave me the encouragement to carry on.
Really pleased you like the way it finished up and a big thank you for the nice compliments.
I think the next one might have fallen off that edge.
Cheers and thanks again.

This is such a funny track, its brilliant as well as completely bonkers. Well done Len, this is out there. Very, very trippy. Fantastic, its completely different to anything I've heard before and just when you think its finishes its comes back again with some mental panning. Very cool track.
lengold
That's me. Really pleased you liked it Keith and especially liked that you felt it was 'completely different'. I do like to do strange stuff sometimes. Thanks for commenting - always appreciated.

I really enjoyed this and its always good to hear something new from you! This is so different and I never know what you are going to come up with next, great imagination you have Len and this is great to listen to, loved everything and your vocals on this are just wonderful!
Very much enjoyed, a great outro too with the fade out and fading in again! Fantastic!

the ominous beggining when It gets going it puts you in a funny mood the way you sing this is classic. One of your best without a doubt!

amazing range, and you produce some truly original music. This is very cool - hints of sixties whimsy, circus mania, and clever, humorous lyrics. The sound is great - terrific mix, too. I love the way you use the stereo space - there are things happening all over my headphones! Very cool. Nicely done, my friend. Peace.
lengold
where things are happening all over the headphones and since changing to Logic I am trying to do the same. I must be careful not to overdo it though - I am really just feeling my way at the moment.
Thank you very much David for your continued support and a massive thank you for the lovely comments.

Peter Bauckham
Len this is so original - I never know what to expect when the musical note appears by your name. I think DavisA was spot on 'wierdly wonderful' indeed. Excellent mix and production. Great!
Peter
lengold
what to expect either Peter - they just sort of happen and I go along with it.
I can think of a lot worse things to be than 'weirdly wonderful' and am very happy with the description.
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and comment Peter - it means a lot to me.

Did you find a police man?
Cool tune - could fit well as a sound track for a movie. Sounds like a tuba doing the bass part. Is that a software instrument or did you play a real one?
lengold
Thanks for the comments, no, not a true story I'm pleased to say.
The 'tuba' is three layers of the same midi file, one bass, one strings, and one high pitched synth sound.
Do I wish I could play a tuba - Nah!
Cheers
Len
Forgive my lateness. Been on vacation and VERY busy...
This is GOLDEN (pun intended!)...Some of the sounds in the beginning remind me of how my head sometimes felt under the hot Arizona sun.
And suddenly...POLKA! Who knew?
Arabic polka...Can they DO that? Ha ha...
Great fun this.
Be well friend!
lengold
You are not late - very pleased you took the time to listen. Hope you enjoyed your break.
Really pleased you enjoyed it and thanks for the support and comments.
Cheers
Len
Because of the beginning I thought this was going in a very specific direction; and then...WHAMMO!!!...You pulled the rug right out from under me, and I experienced a sudden craving for dark beer, a fraulein and leiderhosen!
lengold
what Micheal, I might just be up for the first two things but I'll leave the third for you.
Cheers
Len
Just what is it about leiderhosen, bagpipes and accordians? They get such bad press!
It's a shame really....
lengold
with accordians!

to hear all the recent additions of my few MJ friends. I am a bit flabbergasted of what I am hearing. It sounds like a mixture of experimental and something rock. Undefinable. The vocal delivery mixed in with that mad melody is extremely effective. Top notch, unexpected experimental rock. Dang Len!
lengold
just try something a bit different Marc. really pleased you liked it. Great to hear from you, thanks for the lovely comment.

you sucked me in with that unorthodox intro, then when it kicked in, such fun! i love this, man. great job. sounds like a twisted carnival song. throw in a little slap bass and it could be a primus song. awesome!

pleased that you liked this - thank you very much - very appreciated.

brilliant

Mystified
This song defies genre, but I can see the images vividly: swirling colors, a crowded market bazaar with its street vendors and travelling musicians, the orange sun in a liquid haze, and our protagonist in a mad dash to find his lost love...
Simply and deliciously delirious! :)
lengold
always very happy to see your lovely picture on my page. Really thrilled that you liked my 'Tunisian Circus Nightmare'. I wonder if you would fall for Ahmed?

Whoa, I guess somebody had to think up the idea of shoving a wacky circus theme into an Egyptian urn... really bizarre result of "Moorish influenced polka music"? And the singing sounds almost Devo/Talking-heads style... unique. In a good way! Love the lyrics.

discovering your brilliance around here. This tune gives me the same crazy feeling I got when I first heard Wild Bill's Circus, before Springsteen got all mainstream and working class.

the lovely comment John and for leading me to that track. I had never heard it before and listening to it now. I take it as a great compliment to be compared to it, it's great.
Thanks again.

Have I ever heard anything like this?? I don't think so... It's a swirlin', groovin' maelstrom. I think I hear a parade, Tom Waits, a carnival ride, and a bar band (while I'm drunk). I like how the hectic builds in layers until it's overwhelming. Very cool and original.
