Remixed Demo 2 with vocal hiss removed is HERE
Demo 1:
A poem, written by my daughter when she was in college, set to a music sketch that Alimar composed for it. This has been sitting for about 2 years. Alimar's sketch was too short for the entire poem so I cut and pasted to stretch it out.
Hey Alimar, if the urge hits you to expand on this-go for it. If not, my thanks for this lovely composition and my apologies for slicing and dicing it.
Pastel artwork for the song is "The Cluckerfluff" by Laura (Miller) Rosenkranz.
Vocal: Laura
Music: Alimar
Lyrics:
The Wonderful Wingiggle of Wishing
[To be read in the mindset of The Jabberwokky]
With a soowee the clucherfluff
wished through the ganderwatch,
tiddling and ree-teeing over the land.
Below him the watcherly ride-hooters
skippled and perlunked
from dinrun to splishfall.
"Hareee!" cheed the cluckerfluff,
preeling the wonderful wingiggle
of wishing along above it all!
Finally, the cluckerfluff,
chickled and yooed, diving and kurflicking
back down to the ganderwatch.
The ride-hooters reeped and wunched
when they saw him.
"Yo too," they jickled
"Sore pertily wishing!"
Hayrightly he glee-trinied
and tune-fiffered for them.
They yortled and banterly ootled his tricks.
But the a harfugly mudwuncher skunched
towards the kee-sheeing fide-hooters.
"Kore Gutchrock!" he dorted,
"NO friskily wishing!"
Then piskly the mudwuncher
yooed to the cluckerfluff.
"Too unklee borb wishing
and gunch down fricktly!"
With a fruch
and a lingering wee-chittering haroo
the cluckerfluff siddled and pilfiffered down,
And oomphing the mudwuncher frooched him away.
The ride-hooters roo-chooed
and frumed their disbrukness
"He was a pertily cluckerfluff,
wishing and chee-cheeing."

Firsties? Finally! &mdash 05/10/08 - 06:58:32 PM
Hey, this is so cool! I love the whole made-up language! I want to sit down and try to figure out what each word means in English! What really stands out is the reader's voice. Tells the story nicely!
Thanks for sharing this!

The reader... &mdash 05/10/08 - 07:13:57 PM
is my daughter, who also wrote this. So glad to know you liked this. I could really see this as a children's book with more illustrations like the one above that she did. Of course a CD would be included with Laura and Alimar's audio version;)
Thanks for the nice comments, Stacey. [ Reply to This ]
Great work Jack, Laura and Al! &mdash 05/10/08 - 07:13:18 PM
Would love to hear Laura's part without the mic hiss - that would be REALLY classy! As is, a fantastic piece of kids music - I'm emailing a copy to Aja as soon as I download it.
Great poem Laura!

Hey Neil... &mdash 05/10/08 - 07:17:18 PM
The vocal track came with the hiss... being a demo, I didn't try to do too much to remove it... probably would have failed any way. Hopefully a full revised finished version will be forthcoming.
I hope Aja likes it... thanks for stopping in.

Brilliant &mdash 05/10/08 - 07:16:47 PM
How many takes did the reading take? I can't imagine anyone being able to say this without making a mistake. Lovely music too.
Cheers

I listened to this, &mdash 05/10/08 - 07:37:32 PM
and then I listened again. I will probably go back one more time after this comment, and listen just one more time. To begin with, this has greatly expanded my vocabulary. With these words, I will provoke a kiss from my listener. Laura, please write my biography! My story will sound so wonderful! Jack, I know you're a proud dad. Thanks for this. [ Reply to This ]

Bravo!!!! &mdash 05/10/08 - 09:39:31 PM
I see talent runs in the family. This is beyond good, it's outstanding. I loved every second of it. Great poem!! I hope to hear more one day. It could be a terrific children's series. It reminds me of the great Dr. Seuss who entertained me with his books as a child. [ Reply to This ]
