Description:
Demo #2: for Aja
Ok, Neil... you shamed me into putting Laura's vocal track through Audacity's Noise Removal effect... a little better... all the time... it can't get much worse... ;)
Demo 1 is HERE
Demo:
A poem, written by my daughter when she was in college, set to a music sketch that Alimar composed for it. This has been sitting for about 2 years. Alimar's sketch was too short for the entire poem so I cut and pasted to stretch it out.
Hey Alimar, if the urge hits you to expand on this-go for it. If not, my thanks for this lovely composition and my apologies for slicing and dicing it.
Pastel artwork for the song is "The Cluckerfluff" by Laura (Miller) Rosenkranz.
Vocal: Laura
Music: Alimar
Lyrics:
The Wonderful Wingiggle of Wishing
[To be read in the mindset of The Jabberwocky/Lewis Carroll]
With a soowee the clucherfluff
wished through the ganderwatch,
tiddling and ree-teeing over the land.
Below him the watcherly ride-hooters
skippled and perlunked
from dinrun to splishfall.
"Hareee!" cheed the cluckerfluff,
preeling the wonderful wingiggle
of wishing alone above it all!
Finally, the cluckerfluff,
chickled and yooed, diving and kurflicking
back down to the ganderwatch.
The ride-hooters reeped and wunched
when they saw him.
"Yo too," they jickled
"Sore pertily wishing!"
Hayrightly he glee-trinied
and tune-fuffered for them.
They yortled and banterly ootled his tricks.
But then a harfugly mudwuncher skunched
towards the kee-wheeing fide-hooters.
"Kore Gutchrock!" he dorted,
"NO friskily wishing!"
Then piskly the mudwuncher
yooed to the cluckerfluff.
"Too unklee borb wishing
and gunch down fricktly!"
With a fruch
and a lingering wee-chittering haroo
the cluckerfluff siddled and pillfiffered down,
And oomphing the mudwuncher frooched him away.
The ride-hooters roo-chooed
and frumed their disbrukness
"He was a pertily cluckerfluff,
wishing and chee-cheeing."

Sorry for... &mdash 05/10/08 - 08:41:55 PM
the revised post. But I am glad you chimed in again, Feter. All credit to Luara nd Alimar!

Delightful to listen to &mdash 05/10/08 - 08:43:56 PM
but totally impossible to understand. But when it's done with such passion and earnest, it doesn't matter about the words (or lack there of) because it's still a delight to listen to.
Very cool Jack

Now THAT's better Jack! &mdash 05/11/08 - 12:25:33 AM
Absolutely HUGE improvement Jack. Hope I wasn't too critical of the first post, but it was so obviously capable of being so much better.
My previous download is now binned - this one will go to Aja :)
Kudos to Laura and Al, and take a bow yourself Jack for the mix. That Audacity Noise Removal effect sure does work well!
Cheers,

Glad you spoke up... &mdash 05/11/08 - 11:06:54 AM
and as usual your input was worth heeding. Thanks, Neil. I realized I hadn't tried putting Laura's track through Audacity... an oversight corrected!
Now I can sleep at nights knowing Aja is listening to a hissless bedtime story. :)

Take care my young friend.

I must admit &mdash 05/11/08 - 04:34:09 AM
that I didn't really notice the hiss the first time round. I haven't had much luck with using that Audacity effect - it got rid of hiss but distorted the rest of it.
Still lovely and as I wondered before, how many takes did the reading take? Very well done and lovely music too.
Cheers
Len

Truth be told... &mdash 05/11/08 - 11:13:28 AM
two years ago when I received Laura's vocal I noticed the hiss which was fairly prominent. Yesterday when I decided to put this up here at MJ, I really had forgotten about that issue and spent more time coordinating Alimar's music and working on the overall mix. My tin ear missed it as I worked on the song as a whole. I am glad Neil spoke up...
And thank you for your nice comments... not once, but twice, on Demo 1 and Demo 2.

Thanks, Russ. Maybe as they get older still, your children will become young enough again to enjoy this.
Thank you

I didn't &mdash 05/11/08 - 02:25:35 PM
hear the first version , so I come here with fresh ears and was so pleased by the reading and the music and the clever gobbledygook way this was written. We used to have a TV personality who spoke in a similar way to this and yet everyone knew perfectly what he was talking about and were highly entertained by it. Well done all, regards M [ Reply to This ]
Demo 2 &mdash 05/12/08 - 10:34:55 AM
Hi, Moviz... the only difference between the 2 versions is the removal of "hiss" in the vocal track of Demo 1, making Demo 2 a cleaner track.
The gobbledlygook words are indeed fun to listen to... and how my daughter came up with those words, let alone read them flawlessly, I don't know.
Thanks for the visit.

I think this came together very well. the choice of the music truly fits the poem. Which is a trip in it's own right.
And... a really nice mixing job as well. [ Reply to This ]
a trip... &mdash 05/13/08 - 12:11:27 PM
yes it is. It is something how Alimar came up with this... which he did rather quickly one evening right after I emailed him the poem! Amazing...
Thanks, Vic.

Fun! Entertains both little kids and big ones. I like this a lot better than Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky. More light, less darkness. Nice job, Laura, Al and Jack. The "Lauraljack" -- doesn't that belong in this story? [ Reply to This ]
Wonderful reading voice, Laura! &mdash 05/12/08 - 08:28:48 AM
All those bedtime stories paid off for you! After talking with my 16 month old grandson, I think I understand what this story is about.
Great, inventive words, and the music track fits very well. Thank you for sharing this with us, Jack! :-) [ Reply to This ]
