Description:
The next surgically altered version of Frankenfunk... more fun this time so I dropped the K. Added: Ilya Gerasimenko on tenor sax; Suzanne on guitar; with Tobin Mueller on organ; Ron Carter and myself on bass; and some great anonymous people on drum samples. I think we're done, so I'll call this the final version. Tobin helped with the final mix. Artwork by Fred Simmons: Peekaboo. (Original Version of song.)

... I can't rate it, since I play there; would be kind of
awkward, wouldn't it? Anyway, thanks for allowing me to
sit in - it was fun :{)

Very smoooooth and funky. Mighty fun to listen to. Just
finished downloading it! Yippe!

Love that bassline. We're just dancing around like
squirrels on a roof over that totally cool bass. Like the
way Suz's guitar and my organ meld together, like real
life. But, then again, everything is like a metaphor when
I'm in a mood like this song gets me to... Thanks for the
smooth sax, Ilya. And, boy, that drummer is hip...

daddy-o..hehhehe.....i really enjoyed ron carter's
tone...the funky bass and drums really melded....the
organ sounded out of place to my ears...to dispersed for
the funky nature of the tune....IG's sax work is soulful as
always....i could'nt hear the guitar tho....i dug the piece
much......

I can see why the guitar seems hard to find. I used a Lesie filter on it and it
ended up sound like an organ. Its the part that is playing a sort of funk
rhythm part. She didn't solo so there isn't one. But the rhythm added this
cool energy to the piece that definitely funked it up!

I like. Kept me in suspence until he drums came in. Great
job

Really sounds like (pro) jazz to me.
Nice job, to me you deserve to have more points. I gave
you more points than what you have in the read out for
sure. Good luck!

Cool jam you guys did there. Lots of great playing. Wish
the organ was a little more present, maybe a different
organ sound.

I know what you mean about the organ. As the guy who played, it does seem
a little light to me. I think he was going for more of a sax solo sound in the
mix, even tho the organ plays the lead at times. There is more organ in the
original version linked to in the description, Frankenfunk, but that link seems
dead...?
This is WAY more jazz than funk IMHO. When someone
says funk I'm thinkin' George Clinton... which this ain't.
Awesome job though. solid 8s from me.

Excellent piece, from before my time here. Glad I checked
into your material, mulletsrock. Wonderful collaboration.

I dig those bass punches! What kind of bass are you using?

Ultimately they all move air...
But for an organ part it _is_ a bit busy.
Also, I think that somewhere there should be a melody, a
theme. I've played this thing 3 or 4 times now, and
absolutely nothing sticks in my mind.
It does groove, though.

Enjoyed hearing this - lots of fun. I like the way it builds up,
introducing each instrument in turn (and leaving the drums
until last!). Cool sax and organ. The sampled and live bass
work well together. Made me smile.

It grooves, man! Like it very much. Relaxed sax-playin`!

gels early. Its got such a laid back genesis. I can see a room full of
talented folks just jiving and riffin until things really start to funk. Ilya
really nailed the vibe. The organ (again) is monster but in this version it
really helps flesh things out.
is in this track . Very well done.
