Description:
I wasn't happy with the first version I put up so I'm replacing it with this one.
Added some drums and fixed a messed-up harmonica solo!
Source of this traditional African-American spiritual is "150 American folk songs to Read Sing and Play" ed. Peter Erdei, Boosey and Hawkes 1974.
I love this song but haven't been able to find a recording of it anywhere so I made my own.
Lyrics:
one of these fine mornings at break of day
i'm going home on a cloud
King Death gonna find me here at my play
I'm going home on a cloud
If you don't ever ever see me again
I'm going home on a cloud
I'm going to hail the morning train
I'm going home on a cloud
I'm a poor pilgrim journeying along
I'm going home on a cloud
Going to walk with the angels and sing around the throne
i'm going home on a cloud
O my redeemer, Father of all
I'm going home on a cloud
Here stands a soldier waiting for the call
I'm going home on a cloud

Great guitar playing &mdash 05/25/08 - 12:11:39 AM
Great rhythm section
You can and will sing better - and you're not doing bad now.
Wouldn't hire you as my harp player tho'; are you playing straight harp (E harp for E)? If so, have you tried cross harp (A harp for E, etc)?
Very nice piece.

you're right... &mdash 05/25/08 - 01:58:00 PM
The singing is pretty awful, and I don't know how to play the harmonica really!
I need this kind of feedback to improve, thanks!

play that Delta style guitar well- don't hear much of it around here. You have a very good voice- you just need a little more confidence.Sounds great! [ Reply to This ]

Nice track Relic &mdash 06/11/08 - 11:36:20 PM
Got that Delta blues thing going on. I have to agree with Mark (ibstrat) you voice has good tone and control, you just need a dose of confidence to go along with it and you'll do just fine.
I played harmonica on one of my songs, but just barely. I couldn't find anyone else to do it, so I gave it a try. It turned out about like yours did, not great but at least it was there and helped the song along a little.
Keep after it Relic, it's a learning "Process" which means time and effort will pay off. You've got a great start, now just keep working on learning the ways of recording your music. It's fun for you and good for us too because we get to hear you.
Thanks for sharing,

thanks &mdash 06/11/08 - 11:43:08 PM
thanks for the encouraging words.
I've read that it takes 10 years to get really good at anything, so I'm not expecting overwhelming results right away!
This site is a great forum to get feedback which I think really helps.
glad you listened to the tune! [ Reply to This ]
