Description:
I hope I don't lose any credibility for this one. I really struggled with the production. Tracks bled onto to others (Has that ever happened to you?)

Anyway, I think this is a cool song, one I'd love to hear a real band do someday. I'm always pimping my songs in "REAL LIFE", too.

What do you think of the song? This one has been sitting around for a while just collecting dust. So, I wanted to post it before it died.

Have a wonderful Sunday,

LL

Lyrics:
Everything's Better on Sunday

I go to my bed I clean out my head
Rinsing the afterthoughts I read

A cool atmosphere, I pour me a beer
On a gray afternoon, it burns

Right down to the bones of my soul
Figure out a time to go home
I wait here till something goes right
I might have to wait all night cause.....

Everything's better on Sunday 4x's

Foundation falls, broken drywall
Seems that nothing will bring this house down
She pours me a beer the traffic clears
Forget all my problems face my fears

Right down to the bones of my soul
Figure out a time to go home
I wait here till something goes right
I might have to wait all night cause...

Everything's better on Sunday 4x's

Maps of my mind, the things that I find
Never realize, remember or remind
Why am I here? Room full of mirrors
Up or down just pour me a beer

Cause
Everything's better on Sunday 4x's

I don't know why you'd worry about losing credibility on this - I think it's great! Terrific lyrics and vocals, the production sounds really good to my ears. Way to go Lava!

But, I think I had some trouble with the bass, and the only solution would have been to do it again. Too lazy.

But, you seem always to be very nice and I like that about you.

My flaws are sometimes flaws of flaws, trying to be flaws.

i like the distinction between the different sections. the muting and change to the feeling on the vocals really sets the places apart. i think that's a reason why i always loved greenday i love the verse chorus feel. regardless of production nice structure to the song, and it would be nice to hear a band play live i think.

Just some good old boys. Glad you liked the dynamics. Was there anything wrong with the song? I don't know.

Thanks for taking the time,

this is classic armbruster to me. i really like the lyrics ("Rinsing the afterthoughts I read") and your usual cavalier attitude in the delivery is perfect. The chorus is powerful and catchy too. Great indie rock! If you ever revisit this one I'd love to hear some "hoo hoos" under the chorus (think Sympathy for the Devil). GREAT ending, too. I think this is my new favorite post of yours!

Great stuff &mdash 05/24/08 - 11:14:17 PM
I love the lyrics. Beer theme is cool, and the delivery is great. I love your singing - you have an instantly recognizable voice, and an attitude-rich delivery! The outro is great - nice sounds, and lovely change from the rest of the song. What do I think of the song - I love it. Is there anything I would change about the song? No. It's a great song. There are things about the recording that could be done differently, for sure. But that's a whole 'nuther thing. For example, I'd make the bridge less "heavy" and the chorus "heavier", and, yes, I'd throw more bass in there. Also the outro keyboard sounds could be used in the intro as well, bookending the whole track...but this is all just my ears and my taste. The song's the thing, my man. And this is a good one. Nicely done. Peace.

P.S. It's going to be Sunday in about an hour - now I'm all excited!

Thank you so much for the thorough review. I see what you mean about chorus changes.

Note: I had a problem that I had with a few songs before. The tracks bled onto each other, so I was quite limited by this. Have you ever had such a problem?

Thanks again brother,

Dave

One this one I had tracks bleeding together. That's what I meant about the production. It could have been cleaner.

Plus, I hear what a lot of folks have been doing recently and you tend to compare. You know?

It's been a while since I've been able to sit down and listen to a lot of different tracks, but it sounds to me like your production has really improved a lot. THe mix sounds good to me and the dynamics/arrangements are getting more complex. Keep it coming!

Before You Die &mdash 05/27/08 - 07:32:53 AM
Dave, is there something you need to tell us?

Hmmm... let me look through my Lavalamp Playlist to see if there are any clues....

Feeling Kinda Dizzy, Sick Man, I Can't See Your Face, I've Had Enough, Good-Bye....

Dave, I pimp your songs here in Valrico, so, before you die, you need to come to my house, have a big fat steak, a couple of cold ones, and we can jam these tunes in Real Life. Most of your tunes sound familiar to me, familiar in the sense that maybe I helped you write them or something. Know what I mean? I'd be all over your bass lines like there was no tomorrow. Maybe there is no tomorrow. Is that what you're saying?

Hey, I like this tune on this fine Tuesday morning and I hope you're doing just as well.

Your pal,

Bob

I have been tracking obscure Floridian towns for the right victim to extract whimsical tunes from. And you met the criteria perfectly.

Keep thinking of cool tunes and I'll keep recording them here.

Thanks,

Tuesday Sucks &mdash 05/27/08 - 01:54:48 PM
Now I understand why I was cheerier two days ago. It's just that it's not Sunday today.

What a great hook, David!

You know, we could pick this to pieces and say where we think it could be better, but the truth is that if I were listening to this on a CD I'd bought, I'd be enjoying the hell out of it, and it would be one of the tracks I'd have on repeat. Ridd's idea of "hoo hoo's" is cool and I've been doing them here at my desk. You should try it; it's fun, but I think the song is one of your best, one of my faves of yours, all around. I love the doubled vocals and you're singing with a ton of great energy. Thank you very much for the free download! -Lisa

Tuesday the worst because you still got 3 more ahead of you, so I know what you mean. I'm always trying to write hooks and I'm glad it caught your ear. I love Ridd's idea, too.

Thanks for giving me a lift today.

Bye,

Dave

Oh yeah &mdash 05/28/08 - 07:44:14 PM
that's a big hook alright and the song structure from verse to the big pre-chorus and then the big big chorus is total pro. Sunday also happens to be my favorite day - new big fan here.

RE: Production problems &mdash 06/03/08 - 04:28:45 PM
What I meant is, when I isolated, for example, the bass track, I can hear all other instruments in the background. But, I'm glad it pass the production test. Right on.

Thanks friend,

i don't hear any problems? maybe the drums bled into the right vocal?? that's only a guess, and it doesn't sound bad if that's the case.

great drum sound. catchy chorus. (everything IS better on sunday... especially beer! :) Like the mallet outtro too!
