THE FOLLOWING PUTS THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE (I HOPE)
Read - then listen.
Back in Aug 07, around a week after I discovered MacJam's, I uploaded this track from a particular session I recorded around 8 years ago.
What was most interesting here was that Kirsty who ended up on vocals tagged along with a guy that we auditioned the week before. He was below average and Kirsty then stepped up to the mic and improvised with around 6 songs she had heard only that day. We recorded the session (as ever) on a cheapy tape recorder, sent her the tape and invited her back for round # 2. Quite rare to ask someone back from the dozens of previous potential candidates at that time.
What she sang on both takes from memory were almost identical. A truly great talented singer.
This 'live impro rehearsal recording' is simply a basic 4 mic job so is rather poor on the overall production front although I've done my best to polish this for uploading purposes here.
As to why we never invited her back? Unsolved mystery 25.667 - Columbo and Taggart are on the case as I type.

From the comments on the 1st Kirsty upload:-
Hi {Ceilidh},
We did indeed try to track her down a couple of years ago but this failed.
When we recorded her, she worked in a Chippy somewhere in Lothian. Whilst her buddy who was the guy that we were auditioning was average, she was truly excellent.
Since my guitarist "Flatch" is aware (and thilled) that I'm uploading onto MJ, we might be forced back into action after a premature folding in 2001 after a really good set of gigs at King Tut's.
For now, I'm just glad we have an xlnt platform to release a lot of this previously not widely heard material.
