Description:
Picture yourself in a boat on a river.......no in an aircraft or spaceship flying through dense clouds and, occasionally, breaking out into cloud-free sky with the sun dazzling you through the window before the polarizer can take effect.
This is an old tune. The last of my finished, not uploaded pieces. I guess I'm gonna have to put some more stuff together.
The sun-shining-through-clouds sequences are 4 in number and may be loud. The rest of the piece is relatively lower in volume. I wanted to emphasize the brilliance aspect of the suns' rays.
All we need now is the film sequence to go with the music.
Hardware:
Sony Vaio 2 GHz laptop (old).
Software:
EnergyXT2, soft synths, effects, Reaper 2

pretty much flying here ... but in a real un certian way ... this is very cool and trippy ... very nice mix and downloaded! [ Reply to This ]
Hi DA..... &mdash 05/30/08 - 01:01:11 PM
Yeah....Trippy might be apt. The increase in volume though might bring someone down if they were really on a trip. I hadn't thought about this piece in that way but it could work.
When I put it together I was just playing around with various synth combinations and this was the last one in the series. I'm glad that I rediscovered it.
Take care.

This is excellent &mdash 05/27/08 - 06:34:01 PM
Unrelenting rhythmic pulse...sharp, angular stabs of sound cascading around the mix, solid bed of bass...there is a great energy to this track
Love it
How do you like Reaper to work with? I keep meaning to try it...

Hi Bryn...... &mdash 05/30/08 - 01:07:21 PM
What a week I've had. Swimmers' Ear is what I've got and I haven't been near a baths in years!!! It's like having been hit by a cricket/baseball bat. Not good or conducive to making music.
I'm glad that you got something out of this mix. Reaper. I use it, at the moment, only for final effects/mixing. I use less than 5% of its capabilities. One day I'll use the MIDI facilities, but not just yet.
Rough drafts/mixes with energyXT2/Usine/whatever, then mix and produce the final sound file with Reaper. The lazy mans guide to music making on a computer, using two fingers.
Take care.

The Sheffield Klause Schultz! &mdash 05/28/08 - 12:36:25 AM
Hi Daniel..... &mdash 05/30/08 - 01:10:31 PM
Klaus Schultz indeed!! I lay prostrate staring at the soles of his feet!!!
I will have to listen to some more of his music though before I could comment on my sounds. I don't know his music very well at all.
Thanks for your encouragement and kind comments.
Take care.

Hi Shadow..... &mdash 05/30/08 - 01:12:28 PM
I'm happy that you enjoyed this track. It's been lying around on my drive for a couple of weeks and I almost overlooked it.
Thanks for stopping by to listen and leave your comments.
Take care.

My looking glass... &mdash 05/28/08 - 03:54:52 PM
....sees tangerine skies.
The opening few seconds are awesome.... Wow. That organ at 1:24 jacks up the power level enormously. Very nice. Layer upon layer, you do your magic once again, Paul. You are refining your craft at awesome levels of discovery and invention. Vincent Ligetti has nothing on your work in the area of "atmospheres."
Peace.

Hi Paul.... &mdash 05/30/08 - 01:17:31 PM
You recognized my quote. Glad someone did.
The Vincent Ligetti attribute eludes me though. I Google'd it but did not find anything definitive so I will keep on searching until I find out who this is/was. I love a mystery.
The volume levels in places fought with me almost too well, and almost made me abandon the mix. That's probably one reason why I forgot about it for all this time.
I'm glad you got something out of the mix. It's always good for me if someone hears something they either relate to or like.
Take care.

Occasional Sunlight &mdash 05/30/08 - 11:34:00 AM
WOW - this is one of your best in my humble opinion. It grabbed me from beginning to end. "Flying" is right. You're so amazing in this type of genre (and generally!) Thanks! [ Reply to This ]
Hi Karen..... &mdash 05/30/08 - 01:21:46 PM
You're always so kind about my hodge podge of sounds. I take encouragement from that. Thank you.
The flying aspect of this mix stood out too much for me not to notice. The volume variance though was a bit of a problem, for a while.
I'm glad that you listened and found the tune OK to listen to.
Take care.
