Description:
David Thomas (Perceptual Vortex) and I originated some drum and bass groove. Dave then took it to the next level musically with this mix. While Dave was working on this mix and before he had sent it to me, I sent the original file of just drums and bass to Echoroom, who also took the tune to the next musical level that became this great track: http://www.macjams.com/song/34937. Much later in this process, Dave sent this posted file and both Echoroom and I liked Dave's version very much. I asked Dave to post the track, but his computer had crashed and he lost the file. I happened to rediscover it this week by chance and feel it is worthy of sharing with everyone. So, here is Dave's middle eastern enhanced version of the drum and bass groove. I'm playing bass, keys, and piccolo bass. Everything else is Dave. I hope you enjoy it. P.S., my new puppy (Harley) is the artwork.

Like how it expands in spots after 1/2 way. It really keeps an infectious beat for sure. I think the eastern horns seem to bring out the exotic sound and put the topping on the cake.

This has incredible sway to it... There's just enough push-pull in the bass groove against the drums/percussion to get ya tapping BOTH feet...
I'm checking this out on my best headphones, and there's some real deep growl on that bass...

Ed, thanks very much for the nice comments. I agree that my Modulus bass does indeed possess deep growl. I also have played newer Modulus basses (mine is a 1992 model) and the newer year 2000 and beyond models really, really have great growl when mixed correctly. I wish they cost a little less though.
