Description:
This is a song written by a female singer I saw some months ago playing guitar and singing for an opening to a cool flower store in my neighborhood. Her name is Hannah, she's 19 years old, and I think she has a bright future.

Unfortunately for me, she now goes to school and lives in Berlin. But, who knows? Maybe, we'll do another one in the future.

This song is in the German language and it's making quite a come back here in Germany. English songs have been quite dominate on the radio for some time.

By the way, I'm doing the instruments on this one. (I'm the band) The Laughing Lavas, we're called. Me, myself and I.

The title means, "Across the big pond"

Viel Spaß,
Dave

Coax her along &mdash 05/31/08 - 08:18:59 AM
Check your spelling Mark.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I think you'll be hearing from her in a few years. Most of her stuff is in English. But, I thought this one had the best hook. This one got my ear's attention when she played it.

I could do it, but it would take forever. I'll try to see if she would post them.

Thanks Feter,

The Laughing Lavas are doing great. You make for a nice pick up band. I assume you wrote the music as well.

It's cool to hear a foreign language (well at least is for me). Hannah does a really nice job, Dave

No &mdash 05/31/08 - 08:08:09 AM
I didn't write the music. She strummed it on guitar and sang it. Then, I did the arrangement and the production. I had very little to do with the writing, unless you regard arranging part of writing the music,

Thanks Vic.

I have a mental image &mdash 05/30/08 - 05:36:22 PM
of you kidnapping this 19 year old girl outside the flower stall. It was a good move.
She has a great voice and your music and production fits the song and her perfectly.
Cheers
Len

Calm down with your mental images.

But, thanks on behalf of both of us.

Very nicely done &mdash 05/30/08 - 05:49:27 PM
Great song, and lovely singing. You (and the rest of the band!) did a great job on this. Nice sounds, good arrangement, and nice mix. I love the Viel Spass, by the way! I haven't seen that since I lived near Stuttgart back in the mid-nineties. Nice job. Tell Hannah tell to get a computer and you guys can collaborate online! Peace.

I'd like to..... &mdash 05/31/08 - 08:02:49 AM
do some more with her, but she's 19, she's in school and I think she should get into a band and concentrate on live music.

Maybe, we'll do another.

excellent &mdash 05/30/08 - 06:57:10 PM
song and production on this very pleasant song. For all the beat and the speeding up of the words toward the end, there's a nice kind of flowing sensation about the song... a kind of calmness which is very appealing. Love the female vocal, regards M

This is great! Sorry it took me so long to get here for a listen. It's a great song and Hannah's vocals are very nice. You did a wonderful job on the mix. I love the little percussion fadeout ending. The instruments and accompaniment you chose were a perfect fit. Great job on this lava!

Glad you liked this song and the mix. That was kinda' rough to deal with, but I think I did ok.

Very cool song! &mdash 06/04/08 - 05:50:25 PM
I could hear this used as a jingle or being played in a Starbucks or something.
Very pleasing to the ear!
The vocals seem to slightly go up and down in volume as she sings.
If you "normalize" her voice, it would even out the volume fluxuations.
German is not an easy language to make sound soft in a melodic voice, (Compared to English or Italian), but this girl sounds so lovely.
Kudos to you on a catchy lil' song!

Thanks fot the tip &mdash 06/06/08 - 01:58:06 PM
We were using a hand held mic. so, that might be the cause of the fluctuation, perhaps. German language music is making quite a come back not only in Germany, but as well as other European cities. But, I see what you're saying.

Swedish sometimes sounds a bit like German to me. Because you know English, too, I was hoping a Swede could catch on more. Maybe if I had posted the lyrics you could have better understood.

Thanks a bunch.
How do you sleep at this time of year? It's hard enough here in Dresden!

Sunny dreams,

...doesn't matter the language, though I'd be interested in the translation. It's a really nice tune and a cool arrangement by the Laughing Lavas.
