Lyrics
APOCALYPSE

The mad dog laughs at the wound it licks
While the conjuror prepares new tricks
And the rose still blooms but the thorn still pricks
And every day the time bomb ticks

Arabs, Jews, Protestants and Catholics
Living side by side but they just can't mix
And the men use bullets and the boys use bricks
And every day the time bomb ticks
And I hear that word upon your lips...
Apocalypse

Kids stealing cars just to get their kicks
Junkies search their arms for a vein to fix
Where the A.I.D.S. infested needle sticks
And every day the time bomb ticks

Crosshairs on a telescopic sight are fixed
The safety catch on a rifle clicks
Any trigger-happy fool can take his pick
And every day the time bomb ticks
And I hear that word upon your lips...
Apocalypse

Just getting on a plane can scare you out of your wits
Kidnapped or hi-jacked or blown to bits
All in the name of politics
And every day the time bomb ticks

Racist, Fascist or Nationalist
Well , the names may change but the glove still fits
And the list goes on and it never quits
And every day the time bomb ticks
And I hear that word upon your lips...
Apocalypse

And in the western world where we're all so free
Kids are setting fire to the refugees
And the one big hole in democracy
Is that any fool can vote for insanity

We're heading for the cliffs
Abandoning the ships
Cashing in our chips
The scale still tips
As sanity slips
Where hatred grips
The blood still drips
And I've only got one word for that and it's...
Apocalypse

Intriguing... welcome
From the name, lyrics, and image, I was expecting a dark brooding piece... so I was caught by surprise to hear a rather upbeat pop song instead... not necessarily bad, but my brain was fighting with the juxtaposition of the really sweet (almost Bruce Hornsby-sounding) music, and the rather bleak (and evocative) lyrics. Perhaps this is a nice honey-coating for a bitter pill :-) Really nice song-writing and singing, and I like your choice of orchestration, light but perfectly supporting.

OK
I felt the words didn't need any adding to musically, moodwise, they were dark enough. It needed to roll along in an almost storytelling style but with enough pace to make you see that the storyteller's in a hurry to tell the tale before the whole darned world falls apart. That's why it's upbeat.

Good Song
It's not easy writing a song with the same rhyme and having it stay original and make sense, but you succeeded. I also like the tempo of this piece. It reminded me of a Dylan song.

Nicely done.
