Nice jangly vibe and I like the effect you've used on your vocal.
It's been raining ever since Gordon Brown took office so I guess we can look forward to the sun coming out fairly soon ...
Peter Bauckham
I hope you've not been having too much rain where you are ruining your vegetables. I think you're right about Mr. Brown! The effect on the vocal was a little bit of chorus and reverb - I feel much better with a little bit of processing on my voice - I like something to hide behind.

Or should I say a sweet song.... very nice coffee house song.. Thx for sharing.
Peter Bauckham
for your continued support - glad you enjoy my songs.
Peter
Great song, fits the MJ coffee idea with its fine atmosphere. I loved this a lot but was wishing for a solo in the middle... Great!

I've left a space for a solo... but I wanted to make this as 'live' as possible - of course if you want to add a solo I'd be delighted.
Thanks for your support - I really appreciate it.

Vic Holman
boy, tell me about it. I have to mow the lawn twice a week.
Acoustic sounds great and doesn't miss a beat. Plus your singing is right on top of it.
Great song, Peter.

this is a great tune peter!
I love it Peter. Sounds like a real live performance in a small venue.
Melody is beautiful. Lyrics equally so. A perfect blend!
Be well my friend!
Peter Bauckham
Glad you enjoyed it - I wasn't too happy about posting something with so little production but I'm happy with how it turned out.

This sounds great Peter. The recording is very clear and its like you are right here. Or maybe its that it sounds like I am at the coffeehouse with you. Either way hats off to you for a great piece of work.

Works wonderfully as an acoustic song... would also sound great with some strings.... I really like your voice too!
Peter Bauckham
for listening and commenting - I think this could be arranged in a number of ways - Yeman (Birdman Wayne) has recorded a solo for it - which sounds great - I have added bass, drums, and a couple of extra guitars - so, still a work in progress - perhaps strings would be nice.
Thanks again
Peter

loved this thanx for sharing Craig

you're telling me i live in seattle. still waiting for winter to end here.. you have a nice peaceful voice. it sounds like the vocals are panned a bit to the right and the guitar to the left. i think maybe not quite as much panning would make it sound more together and give the feeling of being played live. once again really like your airy peaceful vocals.
Peter Bauckham
for giving this a listen and for your comments. The vocals are actually dead centre with a dash of chorus - I always try and keep the guitar panned halfway between left (or right) of centre to allow the vocals to breathe otherwise my vocals (which are on the soft side) tend to get a bit swamped. I had wanted to record both guitar and vocals at the same time so there would have been a bit of bleed between the mics, but I only had one mic stand available so had to record as two tracks.
Thanks again
Peter
screamalexz
oh maybe it was my laptop i should listen with headphones because on my laptop it sounded more like each was completely to one side. i sometimes pan the guitar too or i will add a second vocal track and pan it a little to one side so that there is everything center and a second vocal track just to one side some. will listen with headphones now :)
Its Thundering and Lightening in my life at that moment.
I have just this minute recieved a shocking email letting me know that two of my family members have Just recently died.
One that has not been astablished why he died My Nephew Ian who is not that old but over 30 and is my Sister Lillies Son. Her only son
And my Brother In law my Sister Brenda's Husband
I have had no contact with them in many years owing to circumstancers beyond my control. Soooo sad.
How long will this gloomy whether last ? Exactly !
Great performance as usual and fantastic singing as usual Well done Pete.
I adore your great music .
Peace Dee x
Peter Bauckham
Thanks for listening - so sorry to hear your bad news.
No thunder or lightning here today - just more rain. The recent bank holiday was so gloomy - which is how this song came about.
Peter
screamalexz
ok yes it is just the guitar panned. i think maybe not pan it quite as much it helps with it panned, but perhaps pan it a little less but it doesnt matter either way much because the song itself is great and things like that dont make much of a difference either way. it does help the song breath. you could also do it in one take with one mic and just sit a little back from the mic so it picks up vocals and guitar that that will pick up mostly vocals so works well with soft vocals (my latest recording is done that way and all my demos mostly) anyways, good song, not to overwelm you with long rambling comments lol
Peter Bauckham
for having another listen - I appreciate it. I had considered using my electric so I could plug it in but opted for the acoustic as that's how the song was written - my room, which is tiny, is so cluttered, it was just easier to do it this way.
Love your new song BTW - really enjoying these coffee house tunes!
Peter
screamalexz
yes i havent been around much so didnt know about the coffee house thing really my new post isn't really new i just re recorded it a few days ago to do a demo to hand out on saturday at my show. i love coffee shops i wish there were some close to me that had live music. i used to live near one. seems a bit much to have to go all the way to downtown seattle or another city to hear music, i'd like to be able to walk up the street and have a coffee shop with live music right there :/ it seems there are never enough local places to just hang out and have fun.
MarkHolbrook
Mocha Latte and listen to this again please? Encore!!!
Spectacular Peter!!!
guitapick
...the mood's perfect for the genre. I'm sitting, sipping my tea/honey/milk, staring out at the rain as you sing this. Couldn't be better, actually...nice piece, Peter.
davisamerica
think len said the kinks and that's kinda funny cos i can see likeness between your style of writing and ray davis ... you both write about real life so well in wonderful lyric pictures .. and still just love hearing you sing man .. all the time!

Here, it's nice and warm. Your voice sounds absolutely great on this. The guitar meshes well with you voice.
Very nice job.
I think your most entertaining.

much new music from you over the past few weeks - and every one a gem! This is great. Lovely guitar sound, nice changes, and an appropriately low-key vibe to the performance, perfectly suiting the lyrics (and the coffee house setting!). I really like the melody, too. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.
Peter Bauckham
You've been spoiling us with some gems yourself recently... I enjoyed doing this - I'm fond of 'bare' songs. Are you going to be appearing at the Coffee House?
Peter

Peter and Gordon feel. Or should I say Chad and Jeremy :)
Nice English vocal sound and mixes very will with the guitar.
It is very enjoyable to hear that English sounds, I miss that, because it really takes me back to the 60 etc when those great folk groups came out .
Nice!

Hi Peter, a Taylor guitar, AKG mic and a lot of talent make for a good post! This does sound very English and reminds me a bit of an early Al Stewart (which ticks all my boxes). Great song and performance but it's been even wetter since you posted this - can you do one about sunshine next?
Cheers
Steve
Peter Bauckham
that I'm a huge Al Stewart fan - especially the early stuff (your latest post reminded me of Al Stewart's 'Ivich' a bit). So thank you.
Sorry about the rain - I'll try and keep it sunny next time!

This is the most assured vocal I've heard from you - great jangly vibe. I know where you're coming from but fortunately the sun did finally put in appearance late this afternoon and the gloom seemed a distant memory.

I do hate leaving my vocals so exposed... but seemed appropriate here. And at last some sunshine! Let's hope it lasts... I'm fed up with getting wet!
Thanks

Peter you did a wonderful job here. I really enjoyed this. I would have paid to listen to your sweet vocal performance and enjoyed every second of it. (well not now, since you gave it away) :) Seriously great job!!
richardhowardjones
Peter, I really enjoyed this one. Made me positively homesick. Mind you, when it rains here it's often typhoons. I know it sounds dumb to miss gloomy weather but maybe that's how British humour was born.
stratcat
I like the mood and feel, the Taylor sounds excellent with a good clean tone. The recording quaility is very good also.
Robert Rayner
Yes, very topical, and you expressed it very well.
Lovely to hear live recording. Well done!
Peter Bauckham
... and it's barely stopped raining! Roll on Summer...
All the best

Beautiful guitar sound here. Very lovely tune - perfect for the coffeeshop theme. Great vocals as well. An overall great tune - exactly what I would imagine hearing in a small intimate coffee shop setting. Thanks!
