Description:
Interesting Facts About Owls:
Owls are fond of beer, especially dark beer. Occasionally, at breweries, an owl will sample too much and fall into the vat. When this happens, the beer is considered to have magical properties and is sold secretly to a select clientele around the world.
Owls are great dancers. Late at night, this music can sometimes be heard coming from treetops and tall buildings.
The first wind instruments were all crafted to mimic the sound of owls. In Germany today, wind instruments are still referred to as Eulengehooteren.
If an owl decides to build a nest in the bell of one's tuba, it is known to be bad luck and downright dangerous to remove the nest. This recording was made with such a "nested" tuba.
The sheet music to this piece is available at my page at SibeliusMusic where you can watch the notes go by as the music plays. It's priced dirt cheap, because I don't think many community and school bands will be able to learn the syncopation, which was originally devised by owls.

outstanding work! There are ideas here that no one has ever had before. DO you have ANY idea how difficult it is to find owls who read music? ;-)
but seriously, folks... completely creative! [ Reply to This ]

Good to see something new from you Keith! I usually enjoy your compositions, reveling in your scoring skill, looking past the choice of instrument-rendering. This particular one is quite enjoyable to my ears... bombastic and fun... reminds me a bit of something that would play in one of the old nickelodeons.

This is VERY impressive! I doubt anybody who hears this will be sneering even a tiny bit (says one who works in midi sound only!) I'm amazed at the quality of composition here - really really terrific! [ Reply to This ]
