Description:
A continuation of my reto synth series this one looks at the so called sub Genre of "Art Rock". A bad name coined by some writer desperate to find an explanation for an album he could not explain. I never did get that tag, nor could I understand the difference between prog/rock and art/rock. This piece borrows from my love of symphony sounds melded with POP or Rock. I remember how thrilled I was at the Moody Blues and Procol Harums use of that approach.

My thanks to my friend Barretok for helping me give this piece the right atmosphere for what I was trying accomplish..Gracias Amigo...

I hope you like Expander 4 (Sanctuary)

Lyrics:

My Eyes were closed

But Now I see

The world is filled with Hipocrisy

I need Sanctuary

really great piece, love that percolating rhythm. lot sof great sounds too. i never did get the art rock tag either, my personal definition would be music that's not totally accessible, but without the prog rock chops (think Eno, Flaming Lips or some Roxy Music).

Great track.

Here's how I see it.... &mdash 06/10/08 - 01:23:33 PM
Rock equals guitars, and the only allowed keyboards are a Hammond, a Rhodes, or a Minimoog. Ok, Moog modulars too.

This track is synths, so no rock. Dance? That hardly seems appropriate given the sophistication. Does ML have a generic Electronica label yet?

Hm. Those wails around 2:40 are a bit Tangerine Dream like. What do you call the style of music they make?

Hey, regardless the label, this is solid music making. Excellently composed, and realized with great sounds and a perfect mix. Good stuff!
