Nice subtle things happening in the earphones. It sounds like you've got a middle eastern sort-of percussion thing going on, is that right? The vocals and lyrics remind me a bit of Air (Electronic Performers. One of my favorite songs they do!)... and a little like the tunes on the "Run, Lola Run" soundtrack. The little synthy lead parts are quite catchy! Nice! Thanks for the note. Looking forward to more of your work! [ Reply to This ]
Thank you, MissC! &mdash 06/09/08 - 10:16:43 AM
Yes -Air (French, n'est pas?) Drum is just a really lo-fi sound mixture of a bongo beat and a pop 'humble' beat (in fact that's a line from this) from Garageband.
There's also a sampled horn stab in there from a tune recorded in 1922 (Red Bank Boogie).
La Femme d'Argent - now there's a track I aspire to creating (need a LOT of practice!)
Thanks for taking time to listen & comment. Appreciated.

Cracking the code &mdash 06/09/08 - 12:15:06 PM
It's going to take more than Google or an online dictionary to help me to crack the code. When I plug "Verheldimode" into the dictionary it asks if I meant "helldoomed" or "Voldemort" (the Harry Potter villain). The only thing popping up on a google search is your page here on MacJams : >
I was thinking maybe it's a new flavor of ice cream at the Baskin Robbins?
Catchy, textured soundtrack. Love that scathing lead synth.

A solitary Google find! I'm honored! Thanks for listening and checking out the title; it sounds Scandinavian or German I think.
Not Baskin Robbins, but Duane Reade might sell something to cure it:
"Where can I find a cream to get rid of this verheldimode..?"
Maybe!

What does it mean, indeed.... &mdash 06/10/08 - 09:16:06 AM
I'm a bit puzzled that you classify this as "ambient": it's funky in the best possible way. You've got a great groove going here. Whatever that guitar (trumpet? synth?) riff is, it's just what the doctor ordered to bring this track to life. Great stuff.
And I'll keep pondering the mystery of Verheldimode for a long time to come.... [ Reply to This ]
If ElectroVocalAmbient-ish &mdash 06/10/08 - 10:20:34 AM
was a genre then I might have chosen that. What do think fits the bill better?
Thanks for listening.

great song &mdash 06/13/08 - 04:21:18 PM
wouldn't call it ambient (maybe experimental or electropop), but that's beside the point. this is really great. love the beat you put together and all of the little bits add up to a great track. happy to have discovered it. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Michael &mdash 06/17/08 - 01:29:15 PM
I agree that the genre doesn't reall matter, I suppose it just makes it easier for searching purposes when it's not an obvious style.
Really pleased that you like my song and took the time to comment. Appreciate it.
