Empty (7)Space (125)Heart & Soul (1)You left me all alone (1) ()
Description:
On this collaboration I was fortunate to hook up with some macjam heavy weights and a long time friend. Without these people this version would not have been possible. Many thanks to their efforts and the support they provided me in this time of need.

This version has been posted on macjams before. Remix/Re-master.

The song is about a close friend of mine who took his life over a relationship. I speculate in the lyrics what he might be thinking and may have wanted to say to his wife before he died. This happened a long time ago. May he rest in peace.

Peter Greenstone = Vocals
David Thomas = Drums
Steve Cole = Bass
Larry Vargas = Lead Guitar
Me = Slide Guitar

Lyrics:
There’s an empty space I got it in my heart
You know I miss you so you know I let you go
I feel you far away I miss you more and more
Come on back to me cause now my hearts so sore

Can’t believe you left you know I’m all alone
You left my heart and soul...

Guess I figured out you love another man
You know it makes me mad you know I’m your big fan
Reconsider this if you were in my shoes
You would be so sad and be a singing blues

Can’t believe you left you know I’m all alone
You left my heart and soul...

Feel so bitter now you know I’m so confused
Thought I was the one it was me and you
Why you changed your mind I will never know
Think I’ll drink it up to forget the blow

Can’t believe you left you know I’m all alone
You left my heart and soul...

Nasty thoughts I cross when I think of you
Can’t believe there’s end to something I thought true
Starring in the dark of this lonely room
Empty is my heart I gave it all to you

Can’t believe you left you know I’m all alone
You left my heart and soul...

At the first note, it grabs you. Greenstone hit it on this one. Excellent all-around sound.
True rock.

And I'm truly sorry about your friend.

You all have put togeather a fine example of a good rock tune in my opinion. Good stuff from begening to end. Love the little funky stuff going on. Thanks

A great track, great music work and I guess the strongest vocal performance for Sir Peter. Amazing work, sounds a little Deep Purple to me (been listening to them lately!). Kudos...

Sorry to hear about your brother &mdash 06/07/08 - 10:00:22 PM
The lyrics to this song is my speculation of what was going through his head before he took his life. His wife left him for another man. He couldn't except that. I thought your angle on the lyrics were interesting. I guess I could be bitter as well for the fact that he took his life and left me and the rest of his friends.

is a really powerful song.Amazing lyrics, singing and guitar work. It's hard to write a song in 7/4 that doesn't sound forced. This is terrific!

Very Awkward &mdash 06/08/08 - 11:20:42 AM
to say the least. If I play and sing it with the acoustic it flows naturally. It's a whole different animal when I present it to a band. Thanks for your observation and comments, they are greatly appreciated.

This is a great remix, John. It seems all the parts are clearer in this version. Peter's singing is kicking. Great job, man.

Thanks David &mdash 06/08/08 - 04:02:23 PM
This tune was a lot of fun for me... really shows the power of macjams has to offer. I was redoing this tune on my own and it lacked elements that were shared by this collaboration. I decided to forget the re-do... maybe some day in an acoustic set. Thanks so much for being part of it... those drums Kick as well.

Good Lord.... &mdash 06/14/08 - 10:13:37 AM
This certainly has Zep-like impact... And that kind of layered impact that Jimmy Page loved to craft...

Great contributions from all concerned...Peter's vocal is outstanding, and the drums rock and swing like crazy...

On my speakers, I could stand to hear just another dB or so of the bass...That may just be a quirk of this room, this system...The mix is really good...

I'm sorry to hear of your friend's death, though, John...

I'm glad to read this. &mdash 06/15/08 - 09:42:11 AM
I was a bit concerned and thought that the bass should have come down just a tad listening to the song in the car. The final master ended up rather boomy but with the audio files I have, I'm somewhat pleased. Thanks for your impressions as always.

Bloody amazing! &mdash 06/15/08 - 08:11:47 PM
Peter nails it - I thought you had Robert Plant on board for a moment. An all round incredible post John - great playing and amazingly pumped production.

Rather than follow Ed's suggestion about boosting the bass, I'd drop everything else just a tad.

One of the best posts in this style for ages John. Strong emotions often produce amazing results. Always difficult to come to terms with a friend passing in this way.

Best wishes from Oz,
Neil
