Description
There is an artist named alexandre on icompositions who quoted on a freedom remix I did there. He liked my flow and insisted that I check his music out. I did and wrote some lyrics to a song he made called Gunz. I decided to remix the song here with a beat I made with the hopes you all enjoy it. The original Broken can be found here

Lyrics
verse1
My soul for sail
As I tread these waters and navigate my ship across this barren world that's cold as hell
Increasingly I'm told to fail
Live this life like a prison and it seems like God would hold the bail
What can I do to survive
Am I truly alive
Or is my duty to dive and be a mat to stepped on
And made an example to be stripped of my dignity
A victim of policy thats made by bureaucracy
That's blind to the struggles we face
They can double the pace, but I tire of running
When I'm already loosing the race
So Im choosing to face myself in preparation of my second coming
Like the fiery phoenix
Burning bridges between us and only work this on my terms so the creator can deem it
Not mankind's acceptance that is fatally flawed
You can play with the odds or waste your time on these blogs
But that wont change anybody's condition
You can play your position
So long as it is not a state of submission
I try to make an omission of false smile contradiction
To complete this mission and manifest the truest vision
Of equality and justice
The lowest among us that are sucked dry of their being by these ambitious monsters
The only terms by which some feel that we should exist
But I will not accept to live my life like this

Chorus
This is my life so its time that I live it
Despite these evil factors attacking my spirit
I pray for a better day
Hoping there's another way
I say what I have to say through broken lyric
These are broken lyrics

Prose 1
I am stronger,
greater
and for that I refuse to apologize.
I am God in flesh;
hope;
destiny; I am not sorry for that.
Understand my focus and feel my determination.
Nothing will stop me.
Nothing will hold me.
Nothing will define me unless it is truly of me.
Out of us, we shall become one.
Inside of me is you.
Inside of God is we.
All creation;
time;
space;
theory and truth.
There can be none that falter.
There can be none that are weak.
We must find within that which we have lived without.
If the eye is the key to open the mind's door then the light of our convictions must blind the silence of our doubts.

The strange thing about the beat is that it took me about 3 min to make. I am somewhat impressed with that since it seems to have come out pretty well. Thank you for the listen and comment.

solid
a very good track. yes, second coming...whoa! i do think the vocals are mixed in too upfront. But i mix them too much in the back. a little never ending vocalist vs producer problem in a nutshell. I read the lyrics and I stand in awe, you are a very talented poet. Very good vocal delivery, music is cool too. But foremost d/l'ed and faved b'cos of the vocals and lyrics. Awesome artist you are. Believe that!
1 love, Marc

Hands in the air...
...do I dare declare how freakin ill this is!...

Words are transformed to represent something much sweeter after being touched by your soul...

You should associate with as many as you can....

Thanks! Macca

Very nice track
The rap is very good (as always) and good scratching. Interesting music and for me the bass is the best (you know I like bass). The lyrics esp at the end of the track are deep and correct, which is another reason why I always like your raps. Nice one Mitchell.

P.s. Looking forward to the acapella :-)

Thanks for the support Keith. You can bet your bottom dollar there will be an a cappella for this. It was a quick make on the lyrics and came out surprisingly well.

Love your poetry
...and the music surging beneath it carry the words like a river roaring between rocks, moving so fast the water foams in the rapids. But you don't love me in the speed; it almost seems like your voice is a musical instrument itself - the vocals simply notes played by an old master on a good night when the fire is flowing just right.

I don't know why rap like this isn't 'out there'... I know nothing about the genre or the spirit, but this speaks to me real and true, whereas so much out there sounds like posturing, chest-beating Playstation fantasies.

By the way, I LOVED the line about 'waste your time on these blogs'...

You are a poet and a musician
spitlogic said 3417 days ago (June 15th, 2008)
Sir
I am almost at a loss for words. Thank you for the kind words and the beautiful description of my work. I think that most people want to hear something larger than themselves and it is for that reason I make music. I look at my daughter and the state of our world (evident in the state of our music) and I want her to feel the kind of hope and confidence that will allow her to do beyond the normal. I feel that if I make a legacy of decency then some of it may rub off on her. As far as the availability of "this" kind of music there are many artists, unfortunately you will not see them on TV or hear them on radio.

Ooops
....Just re-read my comment. Meant to say "you don't LOSE me in the speed," not, "you don't LOVE me in the speed."

Dunno where that slip came from. Not enough coffee, I suppose!
spitlogic said 3414 days ago (June 18th, 2008)
No prob
I kinda figured thats what you meant. You know I hate when I put something on a song and make a huge mistake on it. I almost feel like pushing that Delete Content button at the top.

Broken
I have heard all the diverse, beautiful versions of your "Cult of Anubis" but had not, for some reason, come directly to the source of that work until now. Your poetry/lyrics are thoughtful, intelligent and so very very meaningful. I read your reply to Rik Berryere and your comments about your daughter and her future. That thoughtfulness and conscientous love comes through in your songs. Beautiful lyrics surrounded by very well composed and mixed sounds. Thank you for sharing these with us.

It means a lot when people cross other genres to listen to what I make. To me it speaks to the core of what music is and one of the best things about this site. We are all musicians/vocalists/poets who love the expressions we make and try to share with everyone with an open ear.
