Reluctance (1)pizzicato (2)synth (255)tendency (1)forward (3)back (23)dance-like (1)gentle swaying (1)
Description:
Well here we have a piece of pizzicato with an underlying texture of soft synth. The Ambiance of the piece tends towards dance movement, both forward and back, reluctance as movement.

It's only an idea and I'm not too sure about the synth foundation. I don't know if it adds enough of anything to be there. Maybe the next mix will see it gone.

Please let me know what you think.

i like this very much. i don't mind the synth, but i think you are right about it not really adding anything. i don't dance so I don't picture dance with this piece, but really great nonetheless.

Hi Michael...... &mdash 06/14/08 - 02:39:54 AM
I'm still not too sure about the synth but it definitely sounds as though I've mixed it, so maybe it's OK to leave this type of sound in the piece.

I don't dance either but I could see the dancer/s as I listened to the piece. The scene just came to me.

It's great that you thought this mix was OK.

Take care.

Paul

I do like it. I like the mix of pizzicato strings and the synth, though I think you should introduce the synth only after playing the strings first. I like the reluctant dancing, kind of staggery and off-balance at times... though I think it would do well to alternate with a contrasting part, something with a straight pulse.

Hi PV..... &mdash 06/14/08 - 02:43:49 AM
You have some good suggestions in your comment. I'll be taking these on board when I play around with the tracks again.

I guess the piece is arranged simply for those who like to listen to it, not purists. I don't know enough about any genre to write/record/mix for them.

Thanks for listening and leaving your great ideas for the development of this piece.

Take care.

Paul

I'm all for mixing instruments like this. I often think, if the classical composers had had these tools, THEY would've! Personally, I think the synth does add, in a subtle way, but I think that's what you were going for. You're creativity sometimes blows me away. This makes me think of a slightly tipsy court dancer

Hi Karen.... &mdash 06/14/08 - 02:49:49 AM
To be honest, I didn't have any idea where this piece was going. I have a setup where I can rapidly insert any soft synth and make some notes for this instrument, and I then move through the synths settings, searching for the right sound for the mix. I chop and change things until something stands out, which I then leave, or I abandon the track and start over.

My compositional method is rather akin to the philosophy of the mother of Forest Gumps, where she equates life to a box of chocolates 'cus you never know what's coming out of the box next.

Take care,

Paul

I'm very glad that you listened to the piece of music and you thought that the effect was OK.

It is one of my experimental classical piece.

Take care.
