Description:
So, this one all started with the photograph you see as the song art here.
Bryn took this photograph while visiting Utah, and when I first saw it, I was struck by the perfect little world of this tiny creature enveloped in green and so oblivious to the immense world around it. I knew one day it would end up as song art...

My Sunday piano improvisation was done with this photo in mind, though after I'd recorded it and added orchestral pizzicato strings and legato bass, I thought it just sounded too similar to other songs I'd done recently.

So I literally turned it inside-out and reversed it then paired it with the forward piano track.

Sometimes abstract, sometimes delicate, sometimes ethereal...To me it captures the magic of first seeing that photograph and the 'other world' that it was.

Enjoy... :)

It's cool when a photograph gets the creative mind in gear to create music, as this one did.

Thanks for listening and commenting.

And thanks, B, for the beautiful photograph that inspired this song!

Great! &mdash 06/10/08 - 01:54:44 AM
Yes, different from your usual improvisations (from the technical way and use of effects) but it's still a Mystified piece! Amazing work, very creative.... I love your work, I love everything you do. Great track!

Take Care

This has a &mdash 06/10/08 - 07:47:51 AM
really lovely sound and feel to it. Quite sad - don't think I've ever heard a piano reversed before. Wonderful idea that works beautifully. Love the melancholy 'violin' type sound that is created.
Cheers

The little distortion effects make it seem like the soundtrack to a dream. Extremely pleasing and solid.

..the thread of the piano theme...the way it weaves throughout the piece...like the slow, perfect pace of the inchworm...

The reverse orchestral instruments were extremely effective...like the outside world, while the original theme just keeps on moving in and out.

Beautiful and well thought out piece, cat...loved and downloaded it.

Falling back on my storytelling tendencies again with this piece--and you heard it the way I was trying to tell it :)

Hi Cat &mdash 06/11/08 - 02:37:46 PM
I think this is one of the best pieces you have ever done (musically and production wise)

It is a great compliment to me that you made this music as a result of my little photo of the worm in the Total Green Universe (TM bmc)

Very, very cool stuff

PS
Thank you for helping me to realise one of my great ambitions since I started working with you - to be able to view for myself some of the natural beauty that you have shared so many times on your magical hikes in Utah

Thank you for these comments, B :)

While I realised the musical aspects of this song on my own, I probably would never have created such a piece as this without all that I've learned in the past two years in collaborating and working with you!

This piece is a combination of my taking that natural beauty that so inspires me to create, and further developing it with the things I've learned in respect to ambient music and production. I always wanted to merge my classical music 'ear' and training with the more modern elements of electronic/ambient music--and it's really fulfilling to explore and do that very thing...

So, thank YOU, too :)

Sorry &mdash 06/11/08 - 05:15:37 PM
it has taken me a while to get around to listening - too noisy at work and not enough time otherwise. Anyway, this is a lovely, calm, piece - very well arranged and recorded. I always enjoy your music but this is even more special!
