Description:
The sun's starting to shine more often so I wanted to write a hooky summer tune and this is what came out. It's an Indie rocker about a guy who's in no real rush to get back together with an girlfriend he's on a 'break' with.
That's my son counting me in. awwwwwwwww....
That's my son counting me in. awwwwwwwww....
Lyrics:
If I had a thousand years I would spend them sittin here
waitin 'round for you
and if you'd let me shift my gears
I'd pull it into 3rd
and spin out into the sunset
So I'll just sit here
drinkin fake beer
Let the sunshine
open my mind
for a long time
how bout you?
cuz I am happy
in this moment
and i will show it
if you could see me
you might be happy too
I know I would understand this
If I only had a brain
So can you spell it out for me please
Will you tell me once again
What's your plan?
If I had some time to kill
I would kill for one more shot
at tryin to impress you
And if I had any courage
I would tell you how I really felt
about you leavin
But I'm a simple guy
So I won't try
to be somebody
you will like
I'm way too old for that
I'd rather soak in
all the sunshine
takin my time
to make up my mind
about just where we're at
I know I would understand this
If I only had a brain
So can you spell it out for me please
Will you tell me once again
What's your plan?

grungy guitars and vocals. Very nicely done - the keys and harmonica fit perfectly. Enjoyed it. Good summer drinking (real) beer song!
Peter
rsorensen
thanks peter. wasn't sure about the piano at the time but the song just isn't complete without it. Glad you like.
lengold
hooky summer tune - this really grooves along. I can imagine car windows open, this blasting out and people singing along. You are a great songwriter and the performance/production is superb in every way. Reminds me of The Joker (Space Cowboy).
Cheers

Yet another song all about us!! Enough already! People are talking, asking questions! It is over! I told you - you broke my heart, so go back to what's er name, Petunia!
Ok, about the sound here....Even though I love the song and you sang it really well and it sounds great as usual, I still hate you. Oh, and awesome job, keep up the great work.
rsorensen
gail, gail, gail... so self-centered. How many times must I tell you, not every song I write is about YOU! Thanks for listening, jerk!
gail60
oooops my bad. So sorry. Carry on. Jerkier!
magnatone
wow Ridd, this is wonderful!! I just listened for the second time, you GOT me! I don't understand why you're not world famous. Is Gail holding you back?
rsorensen
Thanks Karen! I don't want to be world famous. Well, okay maybe just a little.
I love your Singing and your Son sounds sooooo so sweet. Awwwwwe
Music is great. Love the Lyrics they are awsome as well. You sing Fantastic
Your awsome anyhow. That Guitar Phew. You just Rock !!!!

Peace Dee x.
rsorensen
hah thanks dee. yeah he NAILED it. Thanks for the compliments and for checking this out.

lazy, uber cool track. The harmonica adds to the feel of a pick up jam. The guitars rock.
rsorensen
thanks karma. definitely going for a lazy jam feel with this. glad you picked up on that. thanks for listening.

This is a great. Takes me back to 1998 for some reason. Maybe it's the guitar tone. Either way it's dead on and a perfect song for summer. Maybe that's it. Summer=Freedom and I graduated high school in 1998 and that's the ultimate summer. Anyway...
How many guitars did you tracks? Sounds HUGE.
rsorensen
1998 huh? It sounds like another song to me too, but I can't put my finger on it - not sure I want to actually. My wife says it sounds like something the Spin Doctors would've done. I guess that's true but I kinda had Pavement or Ben Kweller in mind.
As for the guitars, it's 2 during the verses (one in each channel) and 4 during the chorus, then of course i more for the slide solo. Thanks for listening Eric. Glad you dig it.
VicDiesel
Really good sound. The piano and harmonica also work fine.
I was expecting the vocals to scream a bit more, but given the attitude of the guy, this laidback wait-and-see style is quite appropriate.
rsorensen
thanks vic. yeah I tried a take where I emoted more and raised my voice but it sounded contrived. thanks for listening and commenting.
lavalamp
just to hear this and I'm not disappointed. I think some day we'll look back and say "Can you believe this guy used to be on macjams with us?"
I don't know, but I think this is your best, brother!
Awesome......and I never use that word.

Great song! Love your voice and the melody line. Great lyrics and harmonies. Awesome guitars. WOW! A harmonica! Very cool tune. Perfect for summer. A great melding of sounds - love the electric guitars with the harmonica. Cool!
I have two songs by the same name that are favorites of mine....
Really cool tune...

i would move south.
Summer just ain't kickin' in here WA state. And a bit of snow this morning. just ain't right.
Liked the laid back groove that you set up. a nice feel for soaking in the sun and no rush for summer to end.

WOW ...thats truly so powerful kinda rockin man !!
solid bass drums and guitar grungin ...the harp
just fit right in ..your vocal at its best !!!!
a real sing along song .thnx alot for sharin it !!!
aclarke
in the world... but oddly enough the two songs I've listened to here today each featured that wonderful instrument- and brilliantly. The harp really adds to the laid back feel of this song while providing an excellent contrast to the heavier guitars. Vocal and harmonies are dead on. Bottom line here is that you have everything I love in a rock and roll song!
Taking my complimentary copy with much gratitude!!
Bob Rodgers
a really great summer song, loved it!
Great guitar sound and a nice laid back feel to this one!
So good to hear the harmonica on this and great vocals too! Superb production!
Great drums work, great guitar sound and fine vocals as always from you. I love this piece my friend, really nice!

You had me at '1,2,3,4...Can I go now Dad?'! What a great intro to a terrific song. This has the hallmarks of a great summer on the radio in the car song. I love the mouth organ, kind of unexpected and then somehow perfect! Lovely vocal and great use of piano. Solo has a superb sound. A great, pro-sounding track. Very cool. You ahev a great range! Nicely done. Peace.
Monkaton
Great song and super production! It kind of reminds me of Marcy Playground (vocal) and Weezer (chord and guitars). Be that as it may it is a truly original song.
Great one, rs.
guitapick
...the music fits the lyrics/storyline to a "t", man...this is perfect and I've been here before...been on the receiving end, too...hmmm...was there a lesson to be learned somewhere...?
Ahhhh yes...now I remember: when in doubt, don't bother making any decisions...you've got no brain, to begin with.
michael2
it's taking me a while to catch up, and this is just grabbing me where it counts. i'm one of those guys who are stuck drinking fake beer, but it's been so long I actually like it now. this is a great song, that harmonica is brilliant over that rhythm.
xavrockbeats1334
better than some world famous bands I've heard. go on tour!!!;)
timothy devine
I love the childs vox in the intro

Everything works. Thanks so much.
Nick_Flash
Great sound Ridd. I'm digging the Flaming Lips style - you do it well. Now I have to get my daughter to do an intro or something!
Nick_Flash
Thats funny, I was listening to both of your new songs and accidentally combined them on this one review. 2 birds with one stone huh? Now I'll leave a confusing comment on your other song.
Cheers.

call the paramedics... your gtr tone has slain me! did you add an extra gtr part during the chorus, or is that just a fader move (ie. you bring the gtr levels up) in the chorus?
rsorensen
thanks. yeah two more guitars join in on the choruses. same tones with a little more distortion on em.
12parsecs
listening again. nice ghosted notes on the snare. really nicely done.
hot dog, we have a wiener! :)
rsorensen
hah thanks scott. good catch!
Forgot to say - the bass also plays power chords in the chorus to beef it up a little as well.

This is good. Reminds me of a favorite tune of mine 'Tom Petty - Roll another joint' but with a much raunchier guitar part. I really love this. Love the piano part, it fits perfectly.\
Seriously inspired.
thanks!
