Description:
Alannah sent me this Lyric (I can't remember why) and ktb posted his track same night( I don't remember what the name of it was/I'm not much help here) and the rest fell into place.
I added strat/guitar and peavey bass guitar and vocals
and was done with few edits
i then was gonna have Alannah sing and we worked at it a bit, then it got shelved.
well I'm tossing it out as is, cause it only exists cause of MJs
so this is a three way
cool
thank you Alannah and Karmatoburn for your thumbs up(way back)

Lyrics:
OUTSIDE HIMSELFAre those his hands shaking –
he can’t hold his cigarette
Who is that stranger in the mirror
– with eyes all glazed and wet
A stranger has invaded his heart –
disconnecting all sensation
Is he in love with this drug – or is it just infatuation
If he was so good –
tell me why
Is he on the outside looking in
– is it all a lie
–
Who is he that man – with tears in his eyes
Holding a needle while he cries
Outside himself – gonna hurt himself again
Outside himelf – gonna let the demons in
His reflection is distorted –
as he stares out the window
Through the smoke and the grime –
of night’s subtle glow
He let in the urge – against all the odds
And it shattered his hope – now it’s up to the Gods
To take away his soul – and bring back his smile
Cause he can’t find it here – he’s too lost in the pile
That once was his fate – before all the pain
he allowed it to happen – with nothing to gain
Now he’s outside - he’s outside himself

This is a hot song. Could I be the first to comment???
Do you always sing like that or is it Alannah's lyrics? Sounds great.
KTB rounds this out masterfully with his keyboards.
Thanks
Bill

sorry it took me so long to reply
ktb is the backbone of this and i just took it for a ride

Tim, cool tracks. Soulful on the vocals and the guitar work is excellent. I especially like the bass work. Powerful lyrics.

but very cool - love the free-form nature of this, an Alannah speciality. I hear the claps being a focus in a drawn out ending.
Like it!

just getting around to responding
I love the drawn out ending idea
it could turn into a jam and fade away real slow
Alannah's influence is 'so' in here
I had been working on "Forbidden" and corresponding w/ Alannah and she shot me these lyrics
thanks for your interest and comment

A sobering set of lyrics. Depressing, but in an artistic way.
Guitar work is very good. Neat EQ and effects. I like the layers.
Nice work here, Timothy and friends.
I could see this as the soundtrack to an anti-drug commercial or documentary.

you brightened up a rather grey and dreary 4th of july
thank you for your visit

Great lyrics. An intense and amazing song, great vocal delivery. Very cool sound , a terrific arrangement!

This is totally a MJ tune.
I am struggling with this a bit cause it was almost too easy
but the energy of three different MJers when into this at completely different times and a song comes out the other end
I have been slow to write my own music lately.
Macjams block!
I am having fun and i guess thats what i always say is most important.
Peace and thank you for all your visits.

...is really wonderful, Tim (and friends). Many layers of guitars and effects, great bass, and counterpoint amongst all the players. Sounds like a live performance that is tight in every way. I agree with comments above about lyrics, but it's the performance itself that "takes" me. You've got a well-thought-out orchestration with a general mix to compliment (and complement) the whole number...Oops...it just ends! Well, fade it a bit and you'll be there. Glad I heard this great tune and performance.
Peace.

Don't know exactly why, but it reminds me of a soundtrack I used to listen to all the time when I was a kid. It was one of the Cory & Cory movies. Anyway, good soundtrack, and this is a good tune. I love the Bass work!
