Description:
My good friend Pete Hulne is an actor and comedian out in LA. One of my original "boys from the hood" back to kindergarten.

During the writer's strike while he was off-set from shooting sit coms he wanted to do a spoof on the whole writer's strike thing.

We decided to go with a Springsteen parody because Pete's a dead ringer for the Boss. Who else better than the Boss to tell people to "get back to work!"

Pete asked me to write and record the tune. This post is the original parody tune and recording I sent out Pete. He and his writers changed the lyrics because they are in the funny business and I am in the song business.

cool tune... good strike in my opinion... never leave money on the table that's yours.
Spoken like a good union rep.

Nice job re-creating elements of The Springsteen sound in this tune, John. I'm guessing you've done a few Bruce covers in your day. Although I have never been a true fan, I must admit he put on the best concert I ever saw (here in Cleveland in the late 70s).

As a professional writer, I thought I was gonna have to rip you guys a new one, but in watching the video I discovered it's really about our society in general and the death of the concept of *a job well-done.* But this may still inspire a new *Joe Hollywood* musical review of the Actors' culpability in this story. The *pointy finger* has no shortage of available targets in the entertainment industry. :P

I don't see Pete as a ringer for Bruce, but it would be interesting... possibly even amusing... if he did a parody doubling as *cousin* Jon Stewart. Why that's a project he could probably continue on a ... *daily*... basis. ;)

Joe, your comments are poignant and as far as I am concerned, I was in it for the parody element, I certainly don't have one of those pointy fingers!

Hey, John... no problem. I wasn't really *fingering* you in this deal. As anyone can tell from your avatar, you're the kind of guy who is always extending a helping hand... not an accusing finger. ;) LOL

Shall check out... &mdash 06/19/08 - 05:29:54 PM
...the video...but, as much as this might be a parody, I've gotta say that the lyrics are right on the mark, Boss...and the music's just right.

Great take on Mr. Springsteen...he's been part of my vocabulary for a very long time...
