Description:
A little song about the possible end of the world (if an asteroid were to crash into the earth) and how we would all, then, have one common goal.
Lyrics:
errant star on a collision courseearth's sedentary orbit
the ground slips from under your feet
forget everything you have learned
leave behind all you have ever earned
pack your bags and get ready,
for something not quite ordinary
get your wife, find your children
pray to god to forgive them
sometimes you're all alone, but not tonight.

sounds reeeeeal good. did you remix this a little? I mean aside from the different opening? Love those drums.
12parsecs
thanks! yeah, i shortened the intro one rotation and brought the vocals and first distortion gtr part up half a db. plus, i used a sweet eq plugin for mastering that i didn't know about at the time i mixed this song.
i hope the new lead riff isn't too grating... but the old piano part sounded like a Journey rip-off, so i wanted to change it. :)

say, is that the Ten Dollar Thompson 'Supernova' record cover?
12parsecs
yes, yes it is. it's a hubble picture of a supernova aptly named, i believe, 'the Q supernova'. good call. :)

I love your production on this and really love the bass line . Sweet song .Sounds good .
12parsecs

Pretty cool. Pretty scary music, but it sounds awesome.
As NeoGuy said, really nice track!

You probably know Ridd, being from B.C. Nice that you could join us here. I really dig this one. Full of emotion and soul.
Dig it. Scary theme, which is cool.

BC's a pretty big place, but - alas - you are correct. Ridd and I have crossed paths before. I found this site because of him, actually. so you can thank him once you get tired of my self-indulgent, rambling songs. :) j/k.
thanks for post, mr lava!

Liking the build up. You show a lot of patience, and deliver a high energy climax. Good Stuff!!
Thanks

thank you for your comment. you know, i just realized that both the songs i just posted kinda follow the same formula. build, build, n' out. i've got tunes more diverse than that, but it's odd that i chose those two to put up.
anyway, thanks again for the comment... and everyone for their posts.

it sounds a bit like the end of the world and as if you've found your musical identity. Well-done debut on MacJams!
I'm looking forward for your next postings...
12parsecs
thanks for the post. there will be more to come, i'm sure.

interesting stuff here.Your production is very pro sounding. The guitars sound huge-I assume you've got lots of doubling on there? I enjoyed this a lot!
12parsecs
thanks. i put a lot of pride and effort into making my production sound 'comparable' to pro. there's definite layering of gtr parts in this one. there's the motion-sick lead line, ebow and trill tracks that went through the PODxt. for the rhythm gtrs i have a PODxt boutique patch somewhere (quietly) near the middle and two mic'd marshall's hard panned. (i love the sound of my marshall JCM900!) thanks again for listening!
king's x - very good!
12parsecs
thanks for the comparison! i gotta get my head out of the sand, as i had never heard of king's x before. but i'm checking out some samples on their site right now. pretty cool shtuff! thanks again!
lengold
very creative, very good.

thank you very much for listening!

Excellent first post! Top notch production and great writing. I would have loved for it to continue building and get even bigger at the end but thats just how I hear everything.
Nice post.

thanks nick! yeah this one ends kinda suddenly, but it's intended to be an intro track... hopefully to a full length cd. i might change the intro guitar sound (yet again) as i'm not sure i'm sold on it. i like the crazy out-of-pitch effect, but maybe softer sounding. we'll see.
thanks for listening!

very very good!!! quite a bit of this one gives me a FAILURE feel (off of Fantastic Planet)...and oh god do i love that band! i'm not surprised that ridd loved this as well...your material is right up both our alleys (from what i know of ridd's tastes that is). this is excellent man, i can't wait to hear more from you, seriously, post more material!!!

failure is also one of my fav bands! i only have fantastic planet, but man i love that album. the nurse who loved me, stuck on you. wow, just thinking about it, i gotta go listen to it now! hehe.
thanks very much for the compliment of comparing this song to them! actually, ridd and i (under satellite tragedy) did a cover of frogs for a failure tribute album. there used to be a sample of it on their site http://www.myspace.com/failuretribute.
more tunes on the way. just gotta write stupid lyrics. *groan* :)

i kept forgetting to check out your page, and boy am i glad. this is amazing. i got chills running up my spine during that beginning. really first rate. love the dissonance and the effects that you used to creat a mood. i can hear the failure influence, they were way underrated here in LA. on to the rest of your songs.
12parsecs
thanks for the failure comparison. one of my favs too! and soooo underrated!! glad i was able to convey the mood and excitement i felt creating this tune. thanks again for checking out my stuff!
