Description:
Roxylee: Feter had sent me his beautiful song _All Just For You_ (3 minutes) and his cello piece _ A Look at the Horizon_ (2 minutes) and asked me to work with them. We were also wanting to do a poetry reading. So... I selected an ee cummings poem, which Feter so excellently recorded. I put his two pieces together, added some backing vocals, inserted Feter's wonderful reading on top of his cello piece, and added some extra instruments and sound effects. We hope you will enjoy this two part, five minute composition. :-)

Feter, you wrote a couple of very nice pieces of music here, and your singing and reciting are soulful, as always. Clean crisp recordings!
Roxylee, I usually run out of superlatives with you, really beautiful singing and choice of harmonies... but something else catches my ear here... I hear a LOT of work behind the scenes... this feels very polished, like somebody worked hard to transition between two different pieces, and pulled it off really well... that connecting music is always hard to do, and often un-noticed (unless anybody's tried doing that.) Very good mixing too, I don't hear anything offhand that I'd change... Feter's voice is very rich and boomy, and you seem to have tamed it pretty well in the mix, it is clear.
Very impressive work, both of you! And of course, i love the ee cummings poem :-)

It is gratifying to know people realize the time it takes me to do this stuff. I marvel at "natural born" musicians who can compose or play a song, seemingly effortlessly, and post 3-4 a week. Good song, charming performance.
Ok, I've rearranged my music room last night, so there could be something wrong with the setup. On the other hand, I have quite expensive monitors, and I've been listening to them for a bit today.....
Your mix is very boomy! I would cut a whole bunch of midrange frequencies to make it more transparent. Roll off the low on all those guitars, and put a real bass part under it. [ Reply to This ]

All Feter had was the mp3,. I dropped the bass as low as possible but without having separate tracks, I couldn't get all the boomy sound out. Of course, if I had more mixing skills, I could have made it sound a lot more professional. The song is one of my favorites of Feter's and I figured the lyrics and vocals would make up for the imperfect mixing. One of these days Feter will have a real good setup and we will hear amazing mixing. :-)

Feter and Roxy you are perfect together. I saw this song tonight and had to give it a careful listen... and I enjoyed every second of it. Great lyrics, soulful vocals, wonderful music and production. The transition to the lovely ee cummings poem is, well, masterful....
