Lonely Fish

Description
I had this melody in my head last night and I thought... put it to a walking bass, cool lounge drums (appleGB) with sax and trumpet and it would sound cool. What inspired the track was that it was such an odd ball melody for me (it might be a reflection of me who knows...) I had to put it out there. Greatly appreciate any feedback Thanks!

Is that fish you?
Stop you don't have to answer that!

I just wanted to say I like very much what I hear. The
melody is great! On the other hand the cymbles were a tad
bit loud for my comfort. Tone it down a tad and you have
one very cool session.

Is that fish you?
Thanks De for you input-I really appreciate it.

I find it hard sometimes to do an objective mixdown with GB. The room/
equipment and most important (the speakers) play a big role on how your
mix comes out. I usually mix down all the final tracks on the G5 because it
has the better speakers of my two systems, but I find out the bass frequency
is usually overpowering, so I find myself cutting a lot low end down. The
result the highs are too high. It's frustrating sometimes when the tracks don't
cooperate. EQ/Filters in GB are great, but what if your speakers sux.

If you have any recommendation on audio software or a brand name for
monitors for my mix downs, I would greatly appreciate a little help.

lonely fish is more like a cool cat
Groovalicious bass walking, intriguing chord changes/
progression. Reminds me a little of a sleepy Lyle Mays.
Nice work.

Ditto on the cymbals.

Thanks for the great fb spaboo. I really appreciate it! I am also a fan of Lyle
Mays which I met by the way at the Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood during a
Chick Corea concert a couple of months ago. Very cool cat.

Thanks again!

nice
The chord progressions are pleasant to listen to, with
good production values on the accompaniment.

The solo lines of the sax and trumpet would sound better
played live, of course! (hint!)

Perhaps a contrasting middle section with more of an
improvisatory feel, maybe with faster runs in the solo
instruments, would give this tune more focus.

Nice artwork! Did you do that yourself?

nice
Cameron thanks for the fb. Wasn't quite sure how to start a collaboration with
garageband's set-up. I would of loved for some of you great artists to play on
this piece. Maybe next time I will post a "musicians wanted to play" and
hopefully we can jamm together I would like that very much!

note the artwork was stock (royal free of course) from my old art collection. I
wish I could draw, but that's not my bag.

Great tune
What a masterful melody and chord progression. Too bad
you couldn't have real players flesh out the sound; but you
did really well with the MIDI instruments you used. Really
great. I love the build duet in the middle, especially. If
there are any suggestions that come to mind: consider a
drum fill or something to lead into the intro (it like
seemed sort of sudden beginning to me); and to change
the groove at least once more; and to create an ending
instead of a fade out. But this is a great tune. Nice track.

Great tune
Thank you for the great feedback Tobin, I really appreciate it! I wish creating
music and song structure could come easier for me, but I need to be patient
and learn from trial and error. I have some wonderful melodies, but
they are often hard to translate into full songs. I will try to come up with
at least several more changes next time to add more dynamics and structure
to my songs!

Thanks

Smooth
Very cool. I don't know what else to say. Great melody: I
love where it builds to a ripping two-part right in the
middle.
