Description
It's like we're walking through a forest, not really knowin what's coming next, but God can see everything from up above. He's workin things according to His divine plan, and He's directing our steps (Psalm 119:133).

Lyrics
You've been workin on me
There's a change I'm startin to see
You mouldin and makin me
Into the man You want me to be

But self gets in the way
The desire to please others comes into play
I need more time with you
And more with my brothers, its true

I'm outta there, my mind's clear
I can hear You now, I'm content right here
This present stress, the current trials
This present mess, I've been walkin for miles

But I know somehow
I'll come out the end
But as for now
I'm on the mend

It's hard to see, beneath the trees
But up above, it's plain to see
You're workin things, that I don't know
You're building things, that soon will show

Everything then, everything now
I can leave behind, and press on somehow

So much
feeling and emotion in this that I can feel it myself. Very simple performance but just as powerful as if you had a full band backing you up.I love your lyrics and the thoughts behind them.I didn't quite understand... "the desire to please others gets in the way' though? I think God would want that. It's a tormented sounding song to me, but all the stronger for it, all the best, M

What I think Joe means Maurice...
is that we tend to please man, rather than God, which can often get in the way of what God is doing in another's life. One example that comes to mind is meeting a person who is suffering for having done wrong. We can let them agonize until their conscience causes them to repent, or we can rush to their side and tell them it's OK, don't feel bad about it. This would appear to be loving and giving, but is actually standing in their way. At least this is my take on the lyric.:-)

re:
hey mate
cheers for the feedback! yeah what i mean by 'the desire to please others' is not in the sense of 'loving one another' - which is a good thing like you said, but rather in the sense of pleasing others in a way that goes against what God wants. For example when my friends were coming for a ride in my car, i had different CDs set apart that i would play. I never usually listened to this stuff but thats what my friends liked so i was 'pleasing them' rather than God. I felt convicted about playing this sort of music and eventually dumped the CDs. There's way more examples but yeah hope that helps. Thanks again :-)
God bless
Joe

Another good reminder
to seek Him and stay in fellowship. Simple, yet heartfelt and true. Your songs always remind me of 2 Cor. 4:16. Thank you.:-)
