Description
This is the first and only song that I have recorded live with a band. We just mic'd everything and played. I didn't have a monitor or headphones, so the vocals are a bit off on the louder parts especially because I couldn't hear my voice at all. Also, there is about 1:10 of dead time that they didn't cut off the end, so it's not over 6 minutes like it states.
The song is about trying to find importance in a society that thinks you're just like everyone else. I wrote it when I was away from home for the first time doing what I thought was important.

Lyrics
They told me it would be alright
They told me it would change my life
The best highs, the worst lows
I look for empathy but nobody knows
I knock your door to set you free
In the rain makes my girl pretty
You say you're busy and you won't let me in
This happens time and time and time again
You want me to be a robot
Be all these things that I'm not
What difference can I make in this world of lies
Maybe none but at least I tried
Who cares if nobody's perfect
And why do you say I'm the jerk
If you're the one to send me the Dearjohn
And slam the door
Give us the runaround, meet me downtown
Why did it take me so long to catch the vision
I can't comprehend this state you see
State of mind is my final
Quintessential equanimity
So you say you want me to be some kind of a robot
Maybe I've seen the kind of things I can do for myself - I'm not
I've seen the difference that I made in the world 'cuz I tried
That ain't no lie
This time is done
So long, fairwell, good-bye
They told me it would change my life
The best highs, the worst lows
I look for empathy but nobody knows
I knock your door to set you free
In the rain makes my girl pretty
You say you're busy and you won't let me in

I've always loved this song. It's probably my favorite song with the line "quintessential equanimity", and that's a long list. However you set it up you got a good mix for live performance in a room. Everytime I try that it sounds like white noise. Look forward to more posts.
