Description:
This is more of a release for me than anything else. Minimal lyrics, maximum guitars. It gets pretty big at around 3:00 mark, so stick it out if ya can. I didn't spend a ton of time on the production on this one so sorry if it's a little imbalanced :)

It's good to just make some serious noise every once in a while, without too much attention to finesse. That Moog (sort of) solo has an uncertain relationship to the key of the piece, but it's all teh more effective for it.
I like the wall-of-sound guitars too. Pretty dense sound.
Impressive.

i saw the lyrics and expected something else. :) like the slightly stereo bass. and the different but very complimentary gtr parts in the beginning. lightning fast end solo, dood. nice cathartic piece.
vic, i think that moog-esque solo is guitar. nicely chorused up, maybe neck pickup?
rsorensen
haha no i'm giving up on that piece of work. i'll let rivers ruin it on his own.
thanks - this one was a lot of fun. the second half especially. your latest one is killer btw!
12parsecs
thanks. i'm still a terrible singer, imo. 'specially compared to you.
hey, i notice you keep changing the name of your tune. next, change it to 9000-lb Gorilla in the Hizzouse!

fav'd and voted!
Feter
this is hot high ride for the guitars and bass ...
headbangin song by all mean ...you used keys ? ...
great rockin one my friend ...ROCK ON !!!
rsorensen
well, the verse soloing is guitar with a touch of chorus. i did add a little piano riff though at around 2:25. It's a little out of place maybe, but I heard it in my head so I had to put it in there :) Thanks for listening and commenting feter.

Whoa!!
A primal guitar scream. Love it!
Thanks
Bill
rsorensen

Take this all away
Release me Release me around 3:00
Take this all away
Release me Release me if ya can
also I like the artwerk....BlueSky
rsorensen
I just noticed I actually wrote the lyrics out wrong! It's supposed to be
'I WILL take this all away, I WILL take this all the way'. oops! I found the pic online and it accurately represents why this song was written. Thanks for checking this out
Cool work my friend, as always great guitar playing and recording too with an amazing drums work. I like it!
Take Care

Dig the start. Taking me back to San Jose mid 1990's........oh that's just a personal thing. This reminds me of my 20's. Great time, I must say. From what I can remember. Maybe that was me on bass, or jamming on guitar.
Leave it. It's AWESOME.
Wow,
LL
rsorensen
thanks dave. i rather enjoyed my twenties too, and i do remember them.. fondly!
thanks for checking this out!

YEAH! Kinda scary in a cartoonish sort of way but totally ROCKIN!!!!! Loved it from the get-go. Love the rude bass sound and the irresistibly irreverent lead lines. Oh, and the change up/guitar solo/outro - perfect!
rsorensen
hah 'cartoony/scary' sounds about right. 'rude' bass and 'irreverent' as well. man you have a real knack for descriptors! thanks for the comment
dolby
Yep, just let it out. Great big sound. Doesn't need much more than what it's got. Just got to the 3 min mark and worth the wait. Good stuff!
rsorensen
thanks for waiting! glad you liked it.

I believe you've just broken the Canadian Sound Barrier.
Nice release. ;)
--- Joe
rsorensen
hah thanks. yeah i wanted to give that kinda impression at the 3min mark. glad you hear it :)
magnatone
lol - "you've broken the canadian sound barrier" - that's TRUE. And all other sound barriers as far as I can tell. I read the comments and THEN listened - so I knew NOT to wear headphones and to CRANK IT UP! This is great Ridd - primal, primate!
rsorensen
wait.. did you just call me a primate? haha thanks karen. it sounds good in headphones too, but yeah Loud!
Heightened
Put on the headphones and cranked it! Worth every bit of hearing loss.
rsorensen
THANKS JOE! GLAD YOU LIKED IT! Hope you can hear me.
Nick_Flash
I just can't get enough of that bass. It just drives the crap out of this tune. Who cares if it's a little imbalanced, it gets the point across.
Nice thick sound and great solos when everything slows down.
Don't know why but I keep thinking of Suicidal Tendencies when I hear the soloing start at 3:00
Great release.
rsorensen
thanks nick. really glad you liked it. I LOVE your new one. Evokes early early Nirvana for me.
Funny that you hear ST. I hear Tool and Soundgarden myself. I do like that band though so thanks!
Oh - I'm gotta put vox on our next collab very soon. I'll send you something when I do
Tiny_Man_Inside
I don't really hear the Tool/Soundgarden that much. The rhythm guitar riff that kicks in at about the 2/3rd mark in the sound does have a bit of that dark/dread Adam Jones sound, but the soloing is way over the top compared to both of those bands. Thayil never ventured out into soloing as a dynamic and driving force that way you portray it here, and Adam Jones only really uses guitar solos as almost a second melodic instrument juxtaposed against Maynard's (SCARY GOOD) vocals.
That said, great piece. Typically I'm not really a big fan of songs that are really a vehicle for extended guitar solos, but I feel like you took the playing to some really interesting places. There is a lot of "tension" in your turnarounds and phrasings. lot of notes that kinda sound wrong, but aren't, if ya know what I mean.

rsorensen
stomping gorillas smashing big guitars? sounds like a video! thanks for listening and commenting
michael2
i have it cranked up insanely loud and it's working for me. great wall of fuzz you've got here. it's like seeing Mudhoney live. Nice drum fill at the end, some serious ass kicking catharsis here. Love it.
rsorensen
yeah sounds good loud in the car too. shakes the dashboard in fact. thanks michael.
guitapick
...a nine hundred and ONE lb gorilla...
;)
Big sound...cool
rsorensen
thanks dude!
Dragonas
Love the big gritty dense sound you get!
Nice bridge at around 3:00.
Good use of the wah pedal!
This song is probably a little too Rawkin' for some of the older MJ crowd, but I hope you do more loud raw stuff.
Cheers.
rsorensen
more loud and raw to come. i'm feeling the need for another release already. thanks for the comments dragonas

R,
Love the balls-to-the-wall atonality of the lead. Rockin distorted bass! As recommended I stuck it out way past 3:00 and was so glad I did. I'm loving the roughness that is starting to emerge from a lot of recent posts. A real departure from the myriad over-produced finicky fuss-fests (myself being completely guity of coarse). This has guts, and I feel it way down.
Philip
rsorensen
thanks phil. yeah you know, i just recently finished my record and even though im super proud of it and i absolutely love it, i needed to take a break from the pickyness of producing and just lay a few tracks down and not be so anal about them - not only in the production but the instrumentation and lyrics/vocals as well. feels good! glad you feel it in yer gut!
Alannah
... yo sure are doing something right .... your stuff always keeps me interested .... how well do you get along with your neighbours??? GREAT STUFF!
rsorensen
they havent said anything yet! i even asked if they hear me and they said no (which I find hard to believe, but hey! good for me!) thanks for the feedback allanah
Mangwisto
Billy Corgan-esque solo there at the end.
rsorensen
