Description
This meets the one-man-one-mike recorded live criteria of the Coffee House aesthetic - but the similarity to many of the fine tunes presented so far ends there.
Here in Brooklyn the solo performance often expands to include other live accompaniment - often involving laptops and midi - but in this case I went old school.
I set up my Roland TR8080 analog drum machine with a simple beat and used the cowbell send to trigger a bass sequence keyed into a Sequential Circuits Pro One analog synth. Basic stuff. I ran that through an old Cube 60 Keyboard amp along with the vocals - and plugged my guitar into a Cube 40 with just a little tremelo. Then I turned everythibg on and laid down the first take to a Zoom H2 digital recorder in the room. GB3 was ued to EQ and Master - but there were no other tracks or effects added. The vocals are low - and the mix is rough - but I get shy in front of people and didn't get a sound check.
Thanks to Steve Craig (aka echoroom) for supplying me with some lyrics to mangle from time to time.

Lyrics
Paraphrased and edited from a great lyric Steve sent me called: EASY (James Kings Bible).
Apologies to Steve in advance.
1979, the first breath makes her cry
I think I was growing up, still growing up.
I saw her yesterday, a million lives away
I guess you’ve earned your wings
You pretty thing.
Take it easy on yourself
You can’t imagine being anyone
And I can understand.
They’re shooting up again, she’s falling in her heels
The summit of your thighs, I could never climb.
She’s sleeping in her fame
They’re auctioning her name
A sinking happiness, well I’m keeping mine.
Take it easy on yourself
You can’t imagine being anyone
And I can understand.
