Description
"Yesterday is every day
And today is filled with dreams..."

A song about the magic and wonder of childhood...a few years removed :)

This is merely a sketch--the vocals recorded one after the other in improvised fashion.
The instrumental is a loop that Bryn and I created when he was visiting last month, and he was helping me out with some questions in Logic.
He did all the very cool glitchy stuff and beats.
(Thank you, B--I'm extremely fortunate to be working with you!)

This loop will show up again on other, more polished pieces in the future--specifically, sonic magpie.

thanks michael
I went into this unplanned as to what I was going to do and let it evolve--so the layered harmonies were kind of a nice surprise for me as well. They do have a gospel sort o' vibe.

Glad you liked it. Thanks for leaving a note :)

thank you!
Sometimes it's nice to do something spontaneously, recognizing it's a sketch that you may or may not come back to later.

Sometimes it's just nice to recognize and enjoy 'the imperfect' as it is for now...so thanks for listening and commenting :)

Ah the sound of that voice
is such a pleasing thing to my old tired ears. Thanks Cat for sharing this lovely song. Love the harmonies you put together and Bryn's back tracks work is excellent. I just wish it was longer, but you did say this was just a sketch. Now I'm waiting for the finished version.

A lovely song Cay

It helps that people like you listen and comment on these explorations and experiments--as imperfect as they are.

From the feedback I've gotten here, I may just have this one polished up at some point.

Oh...and here's a Kleenex...You INFP, you! ;)

Can I quote what guitapick said "a true sucker for this genre"? This is amazing piece of work. I'm just so sorry for being late to the party but I'm happy that I didn't miss it. Can't wait to hear the final version!

Nice ad-libbing Cat
I think this would be astounding if you decide to go on with it. Great ideas and great performance in the circumstances - I imagine this will end up seriously good.

Bryn?
Bryn, you say? I have an 11-year-old daughter by that name! She spells it Brynn. She likes it that no one else in her class ever has the same name as her.

Cat, I hear echoes of Karen Carpenter in your vocals. One of my favorite artists from years gone by.

I love the vocal harmonies you get here. I hear some 'real' vocal harmonies, and maybe some others from choir loops?

My wife just walked by, and she says you sound like Enya.

Harmonies are well-constructed. I think my music theory teachers from Ball State would have been pleased.

A pleasure, Cat, thanks.

Hey, John
Nice to hear from you! Thank you for stopping by :)

I get the Karen Carpenter comparison a lot! I think my lower register sounds somewhat like Karen, but my higher notes are definitely not her alto voice...yeah...more like Enya, whom others tell me I sound a lot like, too.
(I'm just me...whatever I am!)

And thank you for the comments about the harmonies. They are all 'me' singing--all improvised around the others.
I never was very strong in Music Theory from a visual point of view--I always 'hear' things in my head over seeing them on paper, and so I struggled with Music Theory.
If I'm doing it right...well, then, I consider myself blessed ;)

Thanks so much for the comments :)
