Description:
I got the band together for a second performance at the coffee house. We definitely work well together so we figured what the heck.
This song is another one of my older tunes gone acoustic. I actually wrote this at the same time as "With You" which was a few years back. It's been fun to hear these songs back in their original form. I don't have the full studio version posted here but I probably will in the near future for fun.
I didn't spend much time on production or mixing - keepin' it real.
Lyrics:
Lovely
Well I think about her and I’d have to say
That she’s so great she’s so lovely
Makes everyone smile wherever she goes
But where her mind is no one really knows
Oh yeah she’s all right
Shines bright in the night
And now I see
Just how lucky one man can be
She’s so lovely
Well I’d go anywhere I’d do anything
To make this girl mine, if love it could bring
And if act real tough maybe she’ll see
Maybe she’ll be impressed and only want me
Oh yeah now I know
Just how far she’ll go
And I wish that I could see
Just what she was thinking about me
She’s so lovely
Well I think about her and I’d have to say
That she’s so great she’s so lovely
She’s always in my head wherever I go
I’m in love with this girl yet she doesn’t know
Oh yeah she’s all right
Shines bright in the night
And now I see
Just how lucky one man can be
She’s so lovely

Yeah it doesn't get much more raw than this. Very basic, but that is what makes it right.

Nick,
I think the idea of doin' an acoustic version of an old tune is just so right. I love the honesty and clarity that comes out. It reveals all the strengths and passion that made us love it in the first place. This tune has a great ring to it. Not too finicky and just happy to be what it is, a solid song.

I agree, it has an honest and simple feel to it. I could'nt do this genre all the time but it is fun occasionally. I prefer writing my songs this way and taking them from there.

Hey Peter &mdash 06/27/08 - 03:28:07 PM
I'll probably post the full version for my next song. I won't have much recording time this summer for new work.

Thanks Dee, This was a song I wrote about an girlfriend of mine a few years back. One of the few songs I have where the lyrics have any meaning at all.

Hmm. I can see this with a full band. It translates well to the acoustic. [ Reply to This ]

I don't think I can get more raw than this. I'm going back to the screaming distortion next. Thanks Chance. [ Reply to This ]

cool &mdash 07/02/08 - 12:11:01 AM
acoustic rocker! i really like the stripped down vibe. sorta like a hidden track on an album, that was tracked in the control room when the producer wasn't hovering over your shoulder(s). maybe i'm using my imagination a little too much there. :)
anyway, i know i'm waaayy late. great voice. i enjoyed this one. thanks for sharing. [ Reply to This ]
